I'd much prefer Gonzalez gets the January fight over Pascal.
He can fight Ward next year and the winner fights Kovalev for all the belts.

The dude beat Pascal so you gotta give him the edge.

Yea but do you really think Ward is going to take on Gonzalez?

Honestly it's not easy to make this fight happen, Ward already signed this deal to fight Kovalev, so a loss before that would hurt the PPV numbers badly, would Ward take such a high risk low reward kind of fight before he fights Kovalev? We just have to wait and see, but Gonzalez should definitley try to hype up a potential fight with Ward and call him out every chance he gets.

Ward is a clear favorite in my book though if they ever fought, but it's a solid opponent for Ward that can get him on his toes again to get him ready for the Kovalev fight.

I assume the contract with HBO includes having to face a LHW contender but I think Ward would face someone a little more preferable than Gonzalez. He probably faces Pascal.

Even without the contract, I doubt he has Gonzalez is 1 of his top options.

Well honestly if I was Ward and I have to fight a contender first before Kovalev, I'd look for the low risk high reward kind of fight so that the potential fight with Kovalev doesn't become in jeopardy, if you're more or less guaranteed a fight against the best guy in the division why risk losing and hurting the potential ppv numbers with Kovalev against an unknown fighter for some pennies? I think if Gonzalez looks good in his next fight and manages to hype up a fight with Ward, the fight could happen since the fight could be on HBO and Ward can make some cash from it so in case he lost it's still not that bad.

This could be HBO's best card of the year.

Yes. I'm looking forward to it.

Lots of good matchups scheduled for the next four weekends.

I don't expect Shabranskyy to win, but I'm interested to see how he performs.
Even if he loses but holds his own, then maybe it'll give Top Rank confidence in stepping up Gvozdyk and Mekhontsev, who are way more talented than Slava.

Props to Golden Boy for matching their fighters tough. It maybe be too premature for Slava though. I don't think Golden Boy would risk any of their other fighters, but they probably don't care for Shabranskyy.

It's time for Gvozdyk to shine!! I think he has a lot of tools to become a star. Probably the most marketable fighter at 175.
