Should GGG Have Been Disqualified for Hitting Lemieux When He Was Down?

It was borderline. I think it all came down to David not acting like it messed him up any worse. Had he flopped around the ring and really played it up he probably would have gotten a dq.

I don't think some posters here understand how much adrenaline factors into a fight.

If I was in a heated exchange and you asked me what was 1 + 1, I wouldn't be able to tell you the answer.

Point off. People who think it's the same as Roy Jones' DQ read that in an article and started repeating it because they hate Golovkin. I sincerely doubt they saw at least one of those moments, let alone both.

Absolutely not. Points maybe, but not a DQ. Punches like that happen quite a bit.

He should have had a point taken away. It wasn't just a reflex. Lemieux was clearly down and GGG had plenty of time to adjust.
If Lemieux was smart he would have gone down like he just got KO'd and he would have taken GGG's belts and set up a lucrative rematch for him to get sparked out early by an angry GGG.
The Roy Jones situation was much different as Roy hit him a few times after he took a knee and caused a KO situation.

I'm never really a fan of a guy who is winning a fight getting DQ'd over what appears to be an unintentional foul. For examp0le, I don't like Jon Jones, but him getting DQ'd against Matt Hammill was ridiculous. If GGG would have been DQ'd, I'm sure some idiots in here would have found ways to defend it. I could see giving David extra time to recover, but a DQ would have been over the top

however,if the ****boy ass ref wasnt gonna take points,at the very least he should have let David recover as if it was a low blow,,i mean it was a blatant foul
True, I was kinda surprised that the ref didn't take any action at all and just ignored the late shot completely as if it hadn't happened.

Especially with that ref who stopped the fight when Lemieux was still on his feet, you would have thought he'd be extra vigilant when it came to fouls during the bout, even if it was accidental, but he didn't even acknowledge the punch..

It was DQ worthy...he loaded up a punch while the guy was clearly down. It wasn't a split second thing...he pushed out a ranging finding left and then loaded up a right hand against a defenseless fighter.

But hey, being the new house fighter has its privileges.

I guess hte most egregious thing about wasn't the foul, but the ref's inaction

I think hitting a downed opponent is one of those serious fouls that shouldn't get a warning. I think when it happens its a point off for the offending fighter so I definitely feel like GGG should have lost a point.

Having said that I don't think this was malicious in any way & I think GGG showed immediate remorse for the incident. With how things went down I think if David had not been able to continue I'd have rather see it deemed a no contest than a DQ against GGG.
