But when you listen to a fight and the expression "Max Keller**** was the least irritating person speaking" comes to mind, it's time for a new broom.

I remember when Jim Lampley used to COMMENTATE on fights. Now he thinks just opening his mouth and letting words fall out of it is enough. We used to have a quiz show over in the UK called "Catchphrase", where you had to guess a phrase from a visual clue, the show's own catchphrase being "say what you see."

That's Jim's motto these days. "jab... jab... jab...." Jim, that's not commentary, that's describing what's happening in front of you like a 6-year-old with down syndrome. If you can't offer anything, stfu.

What gets me is that it's WALLPAPER. Non-stop NOISE. Yes, other commentary teams are annoying (and I'm waiting for someone to say "I gues yu're sayen dat Jim What is the bes't comenttator thenn?") but at least they shut the Hell up for more than a second at a time. if I'm watching a fight I don't need CONSTANT noise in the background. Yap, yap, yap, ****ing yap. STFU, ****s!!

It also pisses me off when they go to Royston "Roy" Jones Jr. and ask him his opinion on stuff he clearly won't know anything about - "Roy, rate this fighter's chin... Roy, rate this fighter's heart... Roy, rate this fighter's desire to trade in a toe-to-toe war... Roy, rate this fighter in terms of having a reasonable sized cock."

Seriously, they all need to **** off.
Lamply and max got hard off Roman Gonzalez

What the **** even is that? This guy gets paid to do this?

(fully aware that limey commentating is probably the worst in the business)
Lol! Also during the GGG fight they showed GGG blocking a hook as he hooked Lemieux.. and Jim gushed with "you just don't see that!"

      People don't block punches Jim?

Although Jim Watt sometimes irritates me (and sometimes amuses me... I play "Jim Watt Bingo" when I hear a catchphrase) I was watching one the other day and couldn't help but notice that, as bad as it is, they sometimes:

        Shut The Fuck Up.

It's like they can go 5, even 10 seconds without having to speak. For me, the HBO team seem to act like radio DJs now, where you can't have any "dead air", seemingly unaware that it's not THEM that's the main attraction.

It's like if you were watching boxing with friends... if they talk during it, it's a fun way to watch along with them. But if they don't stop talking, even for a second, then it's real STFU time.

I also note that the HBO team are very nasal right now, very high-pitched compared to the UK teams. So are Showtime, I guess, but I like Showtime's team.

            Yeah, Al's gold.

I like a boxer on Eurosport, Steve Holdsworth - he's an utter cock.

I know Kellerman can be provocative because he is a successful sportstalk radio host in New York. I don't really recall him ever saying anything that a couple people in a room could really discuss further on an HBO broadcast though.

Sometime he makes some decent observations about a fight but if that is all he is good for I don't get his purpose on the broadcast team. Lampley will not be beaten in a **** sucking contest which make Kellerman surplus to requirement in that regard.

Plus Kellerman has too much love for Roy or Ward so even if he happens to disagree with them it is not like he is really going to go against them hard. Bernstein is an affable fellow in his banter with Pauli but at least they sometimes disagree because Pauli will stand up for his point.

I streamed the fight, I think it was a Ukrainian stream so I didn't have that issue. I do remember that HBO team picks their guy to suck off for the night and completely ignore what the "opponent" does. This is not only translated on commentary but also on replays as well. The camera team listens to what the commentators are saying and replay footage based on that.

                  they have those moments.

And yet it's easy to make threads highlighting the lows, they have been solid a number of times as well, for matthysse-postol recently. On the other side showtime did a solid job for broner-khabib that night.

Agreed. I was surprised only a few times when Lamply got it right. He called the Marquez shot on PAC just before it happened. But those are few & far in between. I listen to sky news or Mexican commentators. My favorite commentators are the Russian guys, don't understand a word, and like it like that.
