    Yeah, I like Al, Showtime do a much better job. I also think a deranged, senile Col. Bob Sheridan is still better than these guys.

    Typo in the thread title, btw... I would have gone ape**** at anyone else for that.

      The HBO team were giving way too many verbal blow jobs for my taste. They start getting school girl crushes on the main HBO fighter during the fight and it is way too over the top.

        They love to ride the conger eel of the favourite/house fighter. They are very fickle, blowing smoke up the ass of the fighter who's supposed to win. If that doesn't happen they quickly switch stance and act as if they expected the upset from the beginning.

        I'd have to agree, it has became totes unlistenable.

          It's been a problem for many years now. In the olden days, I am thinking of the 60s, many people could only listen to fights over the radio. I'm not sure how much of an influence that had, but when I listen to the commentary on older fights, I can actually listen to it without actually watching the fight; they called the action.

          The changes in approach was not immediate, but it has reached the point where they're more concerned with providing background information on the fighters and promoting the next set of match ups. It's like they don't realise that going into the past and future removes people from the here and now.

            Yeah, it has gotten ridiculous. I was laughing my head off for most of the broadcast last night due to their one sided bias. Crazy, they rarely give credit to the other fighter for anything he does and override his good spots by nonesense rambling.

                  What the **** even is that? This guy gets paid to do this?

                  (fully aware that limey commentating is probably the worst in the business)

                    It is a bad mix because they have 3 guys who are all essentially super positive guys. Lampley is positive for all the company men, Kellerman would suck a golfball through a hose for his preferred men, while Roy Jones like the black guy or the better boxer if it comes to picking between two nonblack guys.

                    I was not a big Larry Merchant guy but his negative bloodthirsty ghoul approach brought a certain balance. Now it is just a **** sucking contest disguising as broadcast team.
