RN were desperate to get a big name under contract and saved Ward from himself. If they had not taken care of his legal case, he would most likely still be spending his time losing in court.

I wonder if they regret signing him seeing as it looks like he will only get one fight in this year and have brought them nothing at all in good press or publicity.

It was a good stoppage - it was neither too early nor too late, it was stopped at the right time.

Lemieux was finished. He was taking too much punishment, he wasn't fighting back effectively and his face was a bloody mess.

This is one of those animated REFs I ever seen, when you watch the fight sometimes you are staring more at the refs facial gestures and antsy nuances than the actual fight.

Before the stoppage in the last 2 rounds you knew already this ref was going to stop it, he was so close and his face was looking ready to jump any moment, and it would make me as a fighter nervous to have this guy as a ref its like yo back up man is the fix in are you trying to stop it so dude gets the win? Even though DL was losing he has a punchers chance and he was still fighting.

I wasn't aware that RN helped Ward in court...

IMO, at this stage, nobody (of notice) at 168 would like to fight Ward... At 175, Ward would easily beat 'top guys' such as Fonfara, Cleverly... or even Stevenson or Pascal... But because of 'networks war', Ward might only fight the likes of Pascal, Chilemba, Murat, a.s.o...
I said those informed over the last twenty four months !

Stoppage was fine. Lemieux was taking a sustained beating, getting dominated and beat up. The ref was annoying though, with his body language and ott facial expressions, looked like he was about to step in all the time. Hopefully he stops doing that so much in future fights.

The funny thing is people on here took a huge shhh on D.Garcia for fighting Rod Salka (deservedly so) and now want to make an exception because it's Andre Ward? Ward is not a 168 pound fighter anymore, if he was he'd be fighting there plain and simple. What's wrong with this guy fighting for the WBC belt, which for the record he was supposed to after waiting the whole year for Sergio to heal? Only to see Dibella turn to Cotto's check book. Then have to wait a year for Cotto to take a tune up and then watch Cotto book a fight with Canelo. Why? I have yet to see anyone say "He should take on the Ward fight once he's done completing total unification". It's like everyone here would pass up a promotion and jump into a total new company to start all over from the same current position or one below it.
I'm on about wanting to see GGG in a competitive fight, which is obviously Ward. I mentioned also wanting to see Ward in competitive fights too, which of course would be GGG and Kovalev, I won't mention Beterbiev, Fonfara and Adonis due to the network conflicts. The topic is about GGG, I want GGG to face Ward.

Lets try to be real clear here so the GGG fanboys can wrap their heads around it, I'm neither a fan boy of either Ward or GGG, yet I enjoy watching both. You guys desperate for Ward to move up have genuine fears he'd beat GGG, why would you not want to see your favourite fighter in competitive fights instead of one sided mis matches, it's bizarre, it's almost like an admission you're afraid he will lose.

I have no agenda here as I'm neutral, you guys are the ones who give GGG moderate supporters a bad name with your cringeworthy behaviour, Barcham and Golovkin especially. Those guys should be up for ****** of the Year, I'll have to amend the poll.

They stepped in and settled things financially with Goosen. I think that was the only way they could have gotten Ward under contract. If they had not, Ward would still be in court today. Not that it would make much difference in the big picture because one fight with Paul Smith had zero effect on any boxing rankings.
