Odd events at the end of the fight that might have saved his life or giving even more complications. Him turning his head and getting hit behind it didn't do him any favors. Too bad that ref didn't take control like he suppose to instead of bullying the fighters.

My prayers are with him and his family

Ban football while you're at it. Lots of kids, KIDS, get hurt playing football. You say hurting people isn't the object of the game, running over them is the goal. They made drugs illegal and you see how that's working.

Is there any boxer who's been in this sorta position thats alright today that I'm not recalling?

marco antonio barrerra had surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain, IIRC, but it wasn't from a catastrophic amount of damage in one fight.

i'll have to do some research to give you a better answer than that. this was a long time ago. let me see what i can find.

Always sad to see something like this, and he didn't even take a horrendous beating just kind of run of the mill beat up with a couple punches to the back of the head (mostly his fault for turning his back in the middle of the action). Boxing is dangerous stuff.

Hopefully the young man can have some sort of normal life.

evidently barrera had been having headaches since the mid 90's, and had a surgery to remove clotted blood from his brain from a "genetic defect."

MRI's weren't required at the time, and barrera wasn't forthcoming with the records of his surgery.

in later fights you could see the scar on his head, IIRC. dude had a metal plate to fix the damage to the skull from the surgery.

again, this was not an injury from a fight, but it was a brain surgery to remove a blood clot.

i wish hiim all the luck in the world. i did not see the fight.

i'll probably watch it to see if there's anybody / any thing to "blame."

              ref, doctors, his corner, etc.

Was it just me but it seemed obvious that the ref was favoring Williams the whole fight. Not saying Colon was a perfect gentleman in the ring but he got all the warnings while Williams got non until the clear rabbit punch and then only got a 1 point deduction. Ref needs to be investigated.

Why is there no outrage at the REF, and DR. not realizing how hurt Prichard was, and NOT STOPPING THE FIGHT?
He kept wobbling around saying he was dizzy.
                    NBC really no comment????
