Comments Thread For: Roach: We'll Take Canelo Deep, Then Take Him Out!

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is confident that his boxer, WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, is physically superior to his upcoming opponent Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

Cotto will defend against Canelo on November 21st from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. HBO Pay-Per-View will carry the event.

Canelo is younger, some view him as the favorite to win the contest and many are calling him the next superstar to lead boxing in the wake of Floyd Mayweather's retirement.

This is prob the first time i can ever remember agreeing with Roach's prediction. Experience and conditioning will be Cottos advantage in the deep water. Cottos work to the body will be something that Canelo has never had to deal with. It will be his detriment

I remember joshua clottey giving Cotto a hard time. I even thought clottey won a close decision. If he fights anything close to that; i see him losing. Otherwise he might have a small edge, but Canelo can beat him on size and youth if he uses it wisely. Good fight overall.

Cotto fought Clottey with a gaping cut above his left eye (caused by a headbutt) and without a corner. There's no way Cotto fights Canelo like he fought Clottey.

Take him deep meaning Team Cotto will avoid engaging as much as possible in hopes that they can land a few shots per round and steal a points victory. Pretty much par for the course with every fighter that has ever stepped into the ring with King Nelo. But you can't blame these guys...just look what happens to fighters when they try to fight King Nelo...they nearly get killed...

I doubt it's going to end in a KO. Canelo's jaw looks pretty solid at 155 lbs. Plus Canelo's training 10 weeks for this fight so I doubt Cotto will have the better conditioning, we'll see when the bell rings.

Canelo is gonna be there to be hit with left hooks, he's gonna get hit HARD, lets see when how he react to a powerful smart boxer.
