i feel like every decision i've seen in these finals has been arguable. fighting three rounds with the 10-point must system is just not conclusive enough to establish a real winner and loser
From what I recall, Selimov pretty easily won the first round. Rounds are won on punches landed, not thrown. That cut was caused by Conceicao in the semifinal. In that regard, Alvarez basically lucked out. Legitimate win, but not particularly meaningful. Last time they fought, when neither fighter entered the fight with a cut, Selimov dominated Alvarez.
You can't be serious...
1. Rounds are won on punches landed, that's right, and the only one who landed punches was Alvarez, Selimov barely threw anything. Given what you've just written, I expect you to tell me that Selimov was winning round 2 as well...
2. Last time they fought in the WSB, Alvarez won all 5 rounds easy (or at least 4) but they gave the fight to Selimov. The bout was taking place in... Baku, Azerbaijan.
3. Robson Conceicao clearly won the semi-final bout, so Selimov shouldn't have been in the ring today to begin with. Alvarez-Conceicao would have been a much more competitive fight.
