Its a case of Haymon actually matching guys in with tough guys that you and others just don't know about. Like Matts v Postol, a lot of people didn't know anything about Postol because he only fought on HBO once.

Since the guys Haymons top names fight have likely never been on HBO, very few know anything about them.

What is interesting is what happens after there is an upset. If an HBO guy gets upset-Nonito, Matts-posters talk about the quality of the guy that won. If a Haymon guy gets upset-the same posters talk about the lack of quality of the name guy.

If certain "fans" (not directed at you) would watch the sport outside of one network, they would get to know more about boxers like Postol or Martinez.

I actually laughed when chavez jr lost & Arum came out "they messed up what we worked so hard for".

It isnt very good relatively speaking since to prove they're better they actually have to match-up, and so far thats been going terribly.

I don't see how thats the case. PBC's showing the best fights on a regular basis better than anyone in the business outside of HBO Boxing. And the volume of PBC fights is beating everyone. If HBO had PBC's TV schedule they'd be showing Gabe Rosado's roadwork at this point.

He has so many fighters and yet, has a somewhat competitive stable(I say this to be nice. For the few times their stables have fought, he loses 99% of the matchups.)

You just don't dig boxing than. PBC has one of the best stables in the business. HBO is #1. You could easily argue TR has the #2 stable. Who's got a better stable than PBC besides those two en******? Please name those stables cuz I'd love to watch those guys more if I'm sleeping on them.

I think PBC is going for both. I think they are achieving that right now too. Who's putting on more shows with more world class fighters + keeping up a HBO standard of 1 big elite vs elite fighter type fight a month? I'd say PBC is leader in this. No question HBO has a more quality product overall still, but PBC is doing a solid job of being #2 to HBO already only 7 months into their creation.

After Mayweather(whos done), who do you usually hear guys bring up from this stable? Thurman? Spence? Imam? Notice a trend? All prospects, all unproven.
Beterbiev's his best chance, and who knows how long that will last? Everyone else seems quite far behind.
Hes got some of the contenders, none of the big dogs.

I think Thurman is more than a prospect. I think he's a top 3 guy at 147. I think most would agree. With Manny not winning vs a legit 147 contender in quite awhile & Floyd out of the sport I think if Thurman beats Porter this year one could argue he's the best guy at 147.

But sure there are a ton of on the verge guys in the PBC roster to guys who are 1-0 prospects. Thats why PBC is a long game plan & won't be sinking or swimming in a year or two & is still gonna be gradually improving over the next couple years which is why where they have already gotten is impressive. Wait til more guys start drifting over to PBC when their promoter contracts expire cuz PBC has so many TV options. What til the 2016 Olympians run over to PBC to make their pro debuts on national TV & are able to fight their entire careers on TV in front of 300k to 1M to 3M fans each time out instead of some small casino off TV card in Ohio in front of 300 people. This isn't even a finished product yet is what I'm saying & its in contention in every category even if it doesn't have a belt yet.

As a Matthysse fan, I agree with that. Postol is the goods but if that was Alexander getting stopped, the first reaction would be 'Alexander bum, Haymon fighter exposed' etc, completely overlooking the quality of the opponent

I think beating Matthysse is more of a big deal than beating Alexander. Same with upsetting Donaire, The Rigo and Walters fights were huge gifts to boxing fans.

And although I haven't paid much attention to PBC for awhile, it seems they are starting to put on some good fights, I'll have to start looking out for them.

McDonnell's first win against Kameda was a huge underdog and was brought in just to make Kameda look good on PBC against a champion too.

Overall, the product is disappointing so far in my view.

I contend anyone who is "disappointed" with PBC either thinks they should be "the NFL of Boxing" out of the gate somehow without realizing that the structure of boxing is corrupt as f#ck, most world class guys are locked in contracts with promoters &/or TV channels already & it'll take years with a "s" on the end of year to be able to do anything on that scale & PBC has only been active for 7 months or you just don't like boxing beyond the casual fan level.

Arum and his matchmakers usually make spot on assessments of their roster. I think Bob knew Chavez ****** but he did have a name you could profit off of.

Thanks. Sadly it seems to be the disturbing trend-posters on NSB base a fighters quality on what channel he fights on. As an older fan this is mind boggling.

Hopefully this trend will stop but I doubt it given what I read daily on NSB.

I also hope fans begin to watch in regional cards and cards from non mainstream promoters (for example the smaller card Dibella has on MSG on the east coast) so they know more about these up and coming fighters.

These guys don't know what it's like to be rewarded accordingly, they are pampered and overpaid.
