Yea, I don't think it's fair using that as an argument when talking about how good a fighter is. Clearly Selby has achieved something very few boxers do and that is quite ze accomplishment.

However, for all the talk of him being the 'Welsh Mayweather' there needs to be the simple and blunt comments of people like IDH to balance the force. He's like the little green **** that is Yoda.

My opinion is that he's a decent world champion who is deserving of the belt, although I think there's a good 5 or so boxers in his division that are better than him.

Exactly, that's about where I have him, definitely top 10 in his division.

You couldn't ask for more honesty that that from any boxer, in fact, off the top off my head, I can't remember the last time the winner said he thought the fight was a lot closer than the judges had it.

Some of us, i.e. ME, have been around this game a lot longer than you young pups. I recall people saying similar things about Mayweather after the Burton fight. Remind me, how did Mayweather get on with the rest of his career?

People need to understand that a bad performance doesn't make a bad fighter, it's just a stepping stone on the road to bigger and better things. Selby will most likely dazzle in his next fight, and you naysayers will all start beating your meat over him.

Lets not forget, he still came over to America, was booed and jeered throughout the fight and still came out with a victory against a 3 weight world champion who as little as 4 years ago was in most peoples P4P top 10.

Good on Selby i say, well done champ.

Some of these posters have no experience in watching a whole fighter's career or seeing boxing through the decades. What about Maidana and the first Mayweather fight - Mayweather clearly had an off night and looked much better in the rematch.

last weekend craig evans admitted in the post-fight interview that he lost to tom stalker, after being given a draw. maybe it's a welsh thing
