Comments Thread For: Team Lemieux: This is The Last Time We're The Underdog

Given the odds and the perceived outcome, perhaps the theme for Saturday’s HBO Pay-Per-View theme should have been “David and Gol(ovkin)iath.”

No matter the confidence he continues to exude, recently crowned middleweight titlist David Lemieux is viewed as a major longshot versus unbeaten Gennady Golovkin. The pair of middleweight knockout artist collide this weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Yea! Because Lemieux will probably never fight again after this beating. It would be pretty sweet if this hype job was competitive, though.

      I think I can, I think I can, I think I can

If he does not win, he'll never be able to talk about winning again. He has opened his mouth way too much in this fight.

I think it's more like going to facing bums where you know you'll win..

Haha kinda true. What's interesting about GGG and a lot of other good fighters is they're not getting the fights they want because people avoid them. But the ones that are avoiding are saying it's the other side that isn't making the fight. This could all be solved by not letting champs fight anyone who isn't a top 3 ranking. No voluntary defenses, no bum fights, none of that. That's what boxing is--you're the best (arouuuuund) so fight the best. If you lose, you lose. Too many records being protected.

Heart can become irrelevant in a fight between two power punchers.

If you're out cold, or down on the canvas unable to breathe or move after a vicious body shot, you're done for, however much heart you have.

I think this fight will be won by the man with the better defence and punch resistance - which should be Golovkin.
