I don't see how this will work. Especially if GGG shows he can be a success on PPV. His opponents will be asking for more money, HBO won't have enough in their budget. If he's planning on fighting 3 or 4 times a year then it will probably be once on PPV and 2 other times against less than stellar opposition on regular HBO

Yep. You can do it by fighting guys like Willie Monroe Jr. And then the hope will be that the PPV comes against Cotto or Canelo. I have no qualms with that, if that's what we get. If Canelo wins, I doubt it happens though, not soon. And at that point, GGG should move up because another PPV with a Lemieux level opponent would be terrible.

Once Mayweather grabbed a the lightweight title he was fighting twice a year. It is a valid comparison. Once Mayweather become the marquee fighter he resigned himself to fight once or twice a year. That was the norm for many years. Holyfield did that, Lewis, Tyson (he fought even less) and others.

Golovkin is bucking the trend by staying active. Fans should be embracing that.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with WBC mandating 2 straight defenses. Stiverne made his with no interim, but Wilder gets 3 fights... when all he had to do was one.

How many times do we have to explain it? He always wanted to fight the other champions at 160. They all ducked him so far except Lemieux. Hope andy lee and cotto/canelo winner have the guts to fight him too.

Yes, and that's why he has an ever growing fan base. You don't have to wait forever to see the guy fight like Andre Ward or Manny Pacquaio or Floyd Mayweather

Not only is he trying to fight 3 to 4 times but he is also doing his best to get guys in the rankings I mean you seem many guys fight 3 to 4 opponents in a year but they're mostly all outside the top 20-50 rankings of their respected division.

People can piss, cry and moan all they want but Golovkin is fighting good opponents and making them look bad.

I really think a fighter never has to move up for the most part. it is up to them. If bigger fights are in the next division, well, that's fine but moving up carries a lot with it. For a fighter like GGG, it means you may not be able to score KOs like he can at middleweight. I would never want to give up that power. Let's face it. You can debate a decision all day long, but a knockout leaves no room for that. If he stays at middleweight forever, that is fine with me. Clean out the division and just hold steady. Once his name is big enough, the young guns at 154 will seek him out. It's what the heavyweights do after all.

wilder fights bums as his first option. ggg doesn't. i dont know how thats the same exact thing. ggg has fought the best opponent who was willing to fight him for the last couple years. wilder has literally tried to fight some of the worst comp ive ever seen as his first option.

i'm pretty sure that the lemieux fight is only ppv because hbo blew their budget and couldn't afford the purses otherwise. if golovkin-lee gets made next year i'm sure it will be regular hbo

lee, alvarez or cotto, ibf mandatory (probably johnson), and maybe one more... that's a good year, potentially even foty depending on who the 4th is, if there's a 4th
