Ward almost done as well at 168 and then knocked out the 175 champ.

Ward is/was heir apparent and I don't feel it's really up for discussion after Pacquiao got knocked out.

If one is to accept Dawson as a legitimate win, even that was many years ago. Since then he has faced a journeyman (took him 9 rounds) and a fringe contender. In my book, the only way Ward is p4p no.1 is if, by some miracle, the boxing world just stood still and no one, including Wlad, GGG, Kovalev, Pacquiao, Bradley and so on, did anything of note in that time.

The truth is, boxing has moved on and Ward is still fighting like a prospect.
We can agree to disagree but in the few fights Ward has had since Froch, he has looked absolutely sensational.

P.S. I'm not a homer for Ward in any way.

        That doesn't make sense

You put a guy at number 1 because he almost did as good as the number 2.

I'm guessing Ward is your favourite fighter.

In that scenario, no because he should be above Ward.

You should think about it a little more.....

I will lay it out for you.

No.1 - Ward cleaned out 168, like Wlad has basically done HW. But.....

No.2 - Ward was actually ranked no.2 P4P behind Floyd for a long time, starting when Pacquiao lost to Bradley. (BS loss of course)

No.3 - He not only beat, but destroyed the LHW champ (Dawson) when it actually mattered. (even if it was at 168)

To me, that is the only claim there is to the P4P no.1 crown other than Wlad.

Oh, and Wlad is actually my favorite current fighter. Ward's not in my top ten, I'm just a boxing realist.

He didn't look sensational against Smith. Very workmanlike, slow at times, lazy most definitely. Then again, it may just be the lack of motivation but honestly, a p4p guy has to have higher standards. But I guess it's how we view p4p lists.

how did it matter if the fight was at 168? it didn't. that fight was a joke. if ggg destroyed ward at 160 i know what you would say. you know what you would say. ward was drained ggg cheated him! but when ward does it to someone else its a great win? you actually believe that?

I thought he looked amazing against Smith. He knocked him out all while taking almost zero damage. You can't do much better than that.
