Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on Why Lemieux Shocks GGG, The World

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter of IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31KOs), predicts a new superstar will be born on Saturday night when his fighter trades punches with WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) in their HBO Pay-Per-View unification showdown.

"...so after the 17th, we will be hearing more about David Lemieux". This part is true; He will be fighting canelo afterwards. As for the rest...well...

Rubio knocked Lemieux out. Rubio is not a big puncher. Golovkin is. Golovkin will knock Lemieux out. Plain and simple.

        Lemieux next
The future of GBP is on the shoulders of Canelo.
If Canelo loses expect more pics of a coked out Oscar in fishnets

Oscar, just stop. The more you say, the more humiliated Lemieux will wind up.

ODLH knows boxing in the ring, but he has his promoters hat on too snug.

GGG is by far the better boxer and his beard is light years better.

It will be a brutal KO of David I'm afraid, unless a miracle occurs.

Canelo is now the breadwinner in boxing so it's not that big of a deal.

Pacquiao is done after one more fight so that ship is sailing too.

There's really only one major PPV star after that.

Thats been the case. Even if Matthysse won or Lemieux does win expecting them to become huge stars isn't necessarily just gonna happen. Thing is Canelo is the future of boxing right now in many ways, not just the future of GBP. He's been the #3 guy arguably for awhile, now he's arguably #2. If he beats Cotto he's the clear #2 guy & then once Manny retires he could be the clear #1 guy. Canelo is very likely the face of boxing in 6-8 months & he's with GBP so GBP is gonna be just fine.
