"Yea you know--I'm the champ. I mean, I don't want to fight my mandatories so I can keep fighting bums because someone doesn't think I'm ready for the big boys yet, but I'm the champ. So just sit tight and wait because I'm coming for you in 2019, Povetkin!"

And I agree with whomever up there said the organization needs to force the mandatory here next for him.

Depending on how he looks against Wach, Wilder should fight Povetkin right after since it would be the best version of Povetkin and he has a chance to show people if hes that great by out-doing Klit by beating a better Povetkin more impressively, or get KO'd himself that's the risk of it though.

Wach is a much better opponent than Duhapes, is the irony (and likely a better opponent then who ever it is Wilder will try to fight before Povetkin).
Povetkin wanted to fight right away coz he knew that wilder was returning from hand surgery and would therefore be gun shy with throwing bombs with that right hand, jus like he was against Molina.

When he realised that wilder was too SMRT to fsll for that **** he decided to ssbotge the wbc mandated date for negotistions by fighting a whole month after said date.

Povetkin is the reason official negotiations are being delayed, not wilder

He's not fighting Jennings either. Why change course after 35 professional fights against tomato cans?

Wilder is a bum, a coward, a fraud and a disgrace to boxing.

These Wilder nuthuggers are ******ed liars.

Wilder is scared to death of Povetkin.

Povetkin easily destroys Wilder and everyone knows it.

Can't blame the man for wanting to stay active, just as you can't blame Povetkin for wanting the same. Hopefully the fight happens sometime in the middle of next year with both fighters fresh and injury free.

Wilder has to understand though that just because he's a beltholder doesn't mean he has the right to fight anyone he chooses whenever he wants. There is an obligation to the sport and its fans that he fight worthy challengers, which he hasn't done thus far (though I don't think Duhaupas is as bad as all that).

If he truly has plans to fight Povetkin next year then I expect to see him choose someone similar to Povetkin in height and physical/stylistic attributes, someone like Fedosov, Glazkov or Mansour. Jennings would be good as well, but I highly doubt we see that fight.

If he chooses another random guy in January then the writing's on the wall as far as I'm concerned.
