  • if ward was a "superstar",,would team ggg still be as reluctant as they currently are

lets say adnre wards following was as big as lets say.......a prime hopkins would team ggg still be as relucatnant as they currently are to fight him??

i mean team ggg keep saying ward is not a "superstar" and is irrelevant, but something tells me they would still be running for the hills if he was popular

the honest truth is is that there isnt much to negotiatate as far as the venue goes, obviously it takes place in california with them both having there fanbases there (bay area vs LA-mexican style),other stuff can be sorted out quite easily

Who knows, but all this is promoter BS and HBO BS.

The thing is Ward and Golovkin are going to want more than they're being paid now if they fought each other which I think they would both want around $5 mil at least but the fat cats don't want to chalk up the money.

They see better ways to use these guys to line their pockets instead of matching them up right now.

You damn sure they will, theres even Sánchez saying in a vídeo 4 years ago that they were willing to fight anyone in the upper divisions just for recognition and money. But when they close the del with HBO that went down the drain.

Casual fans wont even know who Andre Ward is likely that and the fact his fighting 'style' is far from pleasing to the eye.

So on that basis I don't see how they could get a career record payday for that fight not unless the promotion wanted to take a loss to make it happen but its all about making money not losing it.

back when golovkin couldn't get a fight at middleweight, he said "yes" when hbo asked him about andre ward (ward said "no"). golovkin would/will fight ward as soon as ward is his best option. right now he has middleweight unification + a mega-fight with alvarez/cotto within his grasp, so naturally ward has fallen to the back of the queue

If Ward was a real man would he still be demanding a 160 lb fighter move up to 168 lbs so can have a 15 pound functional weight advantage on fight night?

If Ward was a real man would he need a minimum of 3 tuneups to fight Kovalev, starting with a tincan not even ranked in the top 90 at LHW?
This guy right here who got whitewashed by career SMW Rodriguez, a guy that Ward already whitewashed himself?

Is this the real extent of macho Ward's confidence in himself? Can't beat a 160 pounder unless he has a massive weight advantage on him. Can't beat any LHW unless it's a guy who isn't ranked inside the top 90. Yeah, you seem to favor weak minded boxers for some reason.

I know right, like when Ward's manager said that they would be willing to sacrifice weight to make the fight happen until GGG's team sent a legit offer for 164 lbs and all of a sudden they forgot they said that or how they forgot they said they would drop in weight for a Mayweather fight too.

                  http://www.boxingscene.com/andre-war...ght-you--63365

Ward stated on the social networks - "Lil Floyd says he spars middleweights. He is the only man I will sacrifice coming to 160 for. He won't take that bait!!!"

Willing to drop for Mayweather but not for GGG, what is he scared of?

Yes. Superstar or not you have to balance risk and reward and Ward is too risky. Losing would be career suicide so I still think the fight would not happen.

Think about it, you get $5 mil losing to Ward or continue to bank $1 mil, 3x per year for the next several years beating up less risky opponents.
