I certainly do. You are talking about 2 VERY talented guys, so either guy could win. It would all come down to who was able to implement their game plan. If GGG cant get inside Wards jab and gets pot shotted all night, then he loses a decision. But if there's a ref that actually enforces the rules and doesnt let Ward hang all over GGG anytime they are within 3 feet of each other, then GGG puts Ward on the floor.
Ward is a very well-rounded fighter who can adapt, I can see Golovkin getting touched up and frustrated all night long..... and Golovkin is not 1-punch guy, he is not gonna catch Ward late in a come-from-behind win.
Power is so over-rated against A-level skill, seen it time-and-time-again.
Ward has a real tight game.
I give Golovkin very little chance of beating Ward myself.Comment

One side documented an offer and made a genuine attempt to start a meaningful negotiation..... the other side turned it down in 36 minutes flat with no offer of negotiation.
Only one side appears to be doing the tango.
The other side is doing the chicken dance.Comment

You think I am not ?
I live in a predominantly white country, so it is hardly a long shot
Seriously, what is wrong with having a darker skin color ?
We dont seem to have the same level of racial intolerance in my country that you guys seem to enjoy. Its really not that big an issue over here.
It wouldn't matter what color Ward was, Team Golovkin wouldn't fight him.Comment

Good call, it is pretty much a classic boxer/pressure fighter. except I see Ward tieing Golovkin up and brutalising him on the inside as well.

this is true, and we just saw it with Postol-Matthysse. But on the other hand, power is something you cannot "train" to get. You either have it, or you dont, and IF you can land it its the ultimate equalizer. One need only look at fights like Jones-Tarver 2, or Lewis-Rahman 1, where the much more "finesse" type guy got his lights put out. Sometimes it only takes 1 shot. And its not like Ward has a granite chin. If Boone can put him on the floor, so can Golovkin. But the flip side of that coin is that if a guy like Murray can avoid the big bombs for 11 rounds, its entirely possible that Ward can avoid them for 12, and stink out a decision.
Hopefully in the next year or 2 those questions can be answered once and for all. But if I'm betting my paycheck, I'm betting it on GGG.Last edited by OnePunch; 10-11-2015, 02:50 PM.Comment
