As the finishing touches were being made to Golovkin's October 17th unification with IBF champion David Lemieux - Ward's promoter, Roc Nation Sports Chief Operating Officer David Itskowitch, emailed an official offer to Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions.

A well-written and informative article. Strong comeback on Ward's side.
I'd love to see this fight, but maybe in a couple of years.

They would fight Froch or Chavez at 168, lesser fighters for more money and less risk of GGG losing. GGG and his team do not believe he can beat the best at 168 so he will stay at 160.

can we now move the **** on

so Wards offer was "forget about the potential millions of dollars against the Cotto-Canelo winner and fight me instead on a 50-50 split?

My only question is why did it take 36 minutes to turn that down? 36 seconds was plenty of time......

So why the hell would he fight Lemieux and then move up 8 pounds to a different division to fight ward???

Can one person honestly say that would make sense?

Ward's team is desperate and are using GGG's popularity to get their name out there again. And they probably shouldn't reference "journeymen" considering Andre's last opponent and probably his next.
as much as i would like to believe the cotto canelo winner fights ggg, i doubt happens, the WBC would gladly sanction a rematch if it is a close fight. and oscar already say canelo ggg won't happen till 2017, when ggg is like 36 years old.

GGG is the cash cow baby. Ward keeps using his name to promote his career...which has been in the proverbial ****ter the last two years. Why wouldn't he call out the most popular fighter?

Based off what Loeffler said last week, I got the impression that Ward's team was trying to dictate the terms and offered them a 50/50 split which was non-negotiable. You could understand why GGG's team would reject the supposed offer with a PPV coming up the gap between the two fighters could widen depending on the success of that PPV and they didn't want to be stuck with a 50/50 split when they were the A-side in the promotion.

But... Yormack is saying that they didn't even get a chance to negotiate a split or the venue or anything because Loeffler denied the offer as soon as he got it. Yarmack implied that he just sent them an offer to start the dialogue and that it wasn't a final take-it-or-leave-it type of offer.

It doesn't look good on Loeffler to be honest.
