Even when Cotto slacked off and took some losses, his fans were still there! I was in A.C for his fight against Alfonso Gomez and in MSG for his fight against Clottey. While not complete sell outs both arenas were pretty packed with a pro Cotto crowd despite him facing subpar opponents.

I see. So we're amending the argument to whether fans stay around after a loss. Ok. Let me know when you wanna get back to your original statement.

Its relevant to the point of having consistent support from your fanbase. Look at Broner. He was hot for a minute. He took 2 losses and couldnt even sell out his home town in his last fight.

Be honest.. Do you think Floyd would be the draw he was if he had 3-4 losses on his record? His drawing power was a mix of being controversial and undefeated.

Your original statement was that in order to become a major draw, you need to be controversial or a killer. Since that's been debunked (it applies to almost everyone), you've amended that to what happens after you become one, which varies for a myriad of reasons. Look at Pacquiao, he was regarded as a killer and then he got KTFO and his next fight sold 300K PPV's. See how easy that was?

I said as a black fighter you have to either be controversial OR a killer in order to become a major draw in this sport nowadays. Is that statement not true?

There have been and are many fighters of other nationalities that are neither yet have had tremendous support and have become stars in this sport.

Floyd won and went from 4mil to 400k in his very next fight. Why? There was no interest in watching him fight and there was little chance to see him lose.

It's true for almost everyone. Glad to see we're re-starting the debate.

Oscar was neither considered a killer or controversial yet was one of the biggest stars in the history of the sport.

Look at Calzaghe. Dude couldnt even throw a proper punch yet was a star at home. Neither a killer or controversial.

JMM/Barrera/Morales. All technical boxer punchers. None of them killers (except for when JMM almost killed Pac) nor controversial yet are hero's in their countries.

First part debatable. But he is the one exception I can think of, hence the "almost." As I said, what you wrote applies across the board. Go on.

Hatton had one of the most rabid fanbases I have ever witnessed in the sport. He was a balls to the wall fighter. Not necessarily a killer. Neither was he controversial. Yet he reached stardom not only in the UK but here in the US.

                    • Ward hasn't been very active the last couple years. GGG hasn't fought anybody with a pulse in the last decade. They should fight and title it, "Battle for Relevancy."
