Chris Algieri slated for Quillin/Jacobs undercard

He was the second option behind Bracero

    *edit

He's a local guy and headlined there before. They're trying to make it a big card, so good for them. No idea who he'd face.... I don't imagine it'd be a big name though.

Also Mosley was talking about fighting him, but it probably wouldn't be for much... but at least at this point, he wouldn't be putting his own money up and losing money.

Could be a quadruple header if it goes through... at worst Showtime Extreme

    Should be a fun card.

That's the main event right there.

Algieri vs Sammy Vasquez or Spence would be great, but I'm guessing he'll get a soft touch.

Doubt he'll be fighting anyone relevant. If Thurman/Porter falls through, Algeri might wind up fighting one of them.

He will be the biggest ticket seller on the card. That's why they are putting him on. Algieri brings a good crowd from Long Island. I remember before the ruslan fight they were talking about promoting ruslan in the Coney Island area to get a huge crowd of Russians but most of the fans at the arena were for Algieri

Don't know if Algieri is changing his tune about taking only high profile fights, which he stated firmly pre Khan fight. I hope not.

I like Algieri. He isn't a world beater but he is good and improving. He has a nice boxing style without the wrestling and clinching that I hate. He is very game. If he gets knocked down he always gets right back up. Too bad he has so little power but he makes the most of what he has to work with.

Algieri Last 3 Fights: Provodnikov, Pacquiao and Khan, even before fighting them Emmanuel Taylor was a solid opponent

I would have no problem with Algieri getting an opponent to look good against before stepping up again. Jo Jo Dan or Leonard Bundu would be good for him. Look forward to seeing his improvement under John David Jackson.
