You know damn well they should be putting on a better matchup than that.
ESPN & Boxing don't have some epic history as of recent years lets not bs the history. Atlas was calling Monty Meza Clay fights (with Monty as the "A side" as people say these days) not that long ago instead of Erislandy Lara, Keith Thurman & Leo Santa Cruz fights. Lara vs Zaveck woulda been one of the most evenly matched bigger name fights Atlas woulda called all year til PBC took over.

And I know Haymon is a businessman, and a brilliant one at that. But to say he is above scamming less intelligent people is crazy. He has already done it to executives at HBO at Showtime.

None of us know the details about how the PBC operates, but I would like to know if Haymon is taking any risk with the war chest that his been provided to him by Waddell & Reed...If not, then my concern seems like it could have merit.
Well sure no one really can know. What I do know is if I'm trying to make an NFL of boxing I'm not throwing all my names in a battle royale right at the start. I'm building names, selling guys & putting on "big elite level fights" on about once a month. To become the NFL of boxing you don't wanna lower the value of too many of your names at the beginning as that lowers the value of your entire operation. Just look at Andre Ward @ 168. He beat a murderers row of guys in the Super Six tournament, but that basically destroyed the division cuz there are no fights to make for the top guy. You gotta spread **** out more imo.

And if he is trying to make it like the NFL, the way he is going about it is completely unacceptable. There is no spokesperson for the PBC, nobody that will answer relevant questions, and no plan that has been outlined.
Idk about completely unacceptable. I think this is a long game plan & most people have the attention span of the dumb Kardashian (whichever one that is) so they don't "get it". This is gonna take the better part of a decade to fail or succeed is the reality & we are just past the 6 month mark now. And mistakes are being made & will be made. How they adjust to their mistakes will ultimately play into them succeeding or not.

I definitely agree with you that PBC needs a spokesperson. My assumption is this is a role that has been left open for Richard Schaefer if & when he returns to boxing. If that is the case I suspect many will be changing their opinion of PBC in the near future & I believe PBC's first year will end with more obvious goals & steered better on a card by card, channel by channel basis. If Schaefer decides to not return to boxing or takes some other gig in boxing I suspect you'll see someone take this role besides Schaefer finally.

Lara by running wide UD. No KO. Lara can't pull the trigger... he's still too stuck in the little kiddie amateur mindset.

This is the Florida fight they were talking about? Smh, nobody's going to go to that crap. Lara's the top dog at 154, Haymon needs to quit bullshyting and start making the best possible fights for him.

I disagree. I think Haymon is doing the best he possibly can with regards to Lara's career.

He's trying to build up Lara by giving him opponents that he'll look very good against, headlining ESPN. It's Lara's job to deliver. If he carries Zaveck for 12 rounds, like he did with Delvin, and the audience starts booing him I can see Haymon just giving up on Lara and throwing him on undercards.

This is Lara's chance to really make a statement. If the guy is asking to be knocked out then go for the kill.

Nah, Haymon's always treated Lara as a B-side. He was supposed to lose to Paul Williams, and they tried to set him up to lose to Angulo. Haymon's just keeping him busy enough to stay relevant until one of his young guns like J-Rock can knock him off (legitimately or otherwise).

I looked back at the threads before I posted and saw nothing but "good fight". Again, this is a new one. And Zaveck was top 10 WW btw.
