Comments Thread For: Roach: Crawford is Good, But Can't Handle Postol

Carson, California - In what was a head turning upset this past weekend, as Freddie Roach’s pupil Viktor Postol (28-0, 12KOs) stopped Lucas Matthysse with a surprise knockout ending to capture the vacant WBC 140-pound title.

Matthysse took a big right hand in the tenth and went down. Fearing a possible eye injury, he remained down on a knee as the referee counted him out.

I think the difference between them is that Crawford is naturally gifted, talented while Postol is pretty much just a good worker. Does what he has to in the ring, he learned how to punch prolific and etc... but lacks the natural talent and the skill of adaptation. And he is way more robotic than Crawford. Crawford will get this job done.

He's 31 and only weighed 148 on fight night. He can probably stay at 140 til he retires.

I would really like to sample whatever Roach is smoking because it seems like it's good stuff. Way too much speed from Crawford for Postol to handle.

I'm really looking forward to this fight getting made. I am a fan of Crawford, but Postol's length and height will be trouble for anybody. Plus he has a really good team behind him with Freddie and Gavin. And like most sports, the best prepared and contioned fighter will have the advantage.

After his performance I make him favored against anyone at 140 including Crawford. With that length and jab he's a nightmare matchup at his weight. He has the frame to go up in weight but why do that when he has such a huge height and reach advantage at 140. Reminds me a little of Paul Williams at 147.

Crawford makes good adjustments, I'd favor that over Postol's boxing

Problem is. This is'nt the type of guy that you can give early rounds to. I think Crawford beats him, but he can't screw around for 3, 4 or 5 rounds before he decides to kick it in.
