Comments Thread For: Hearn: Murray Defense Will Backfire on Arthur Abraham

Martin Murray will challenge WBO super-middleweight champion Arthur Abraham in Hannover on November 21.

The St Helens fighter (32-2-1-KO15) stepped up a division after three near misses in middleweight world title fights and with three tune-up wins at his new weight-class under his belt, is back in at the top level against Abraham (43-4-KO29).

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "It's a big jump compared to his last two fights but it's not when you compare it to the rest of his CV.

I like Murray's chances in this fight.

He was very big at 160, so I don't think 168 will be a problem to him.

Murray stood 11 rounds of Golovkin beating on him - so have to assume that he'll be resistant to Abraham landing on him - and Abraham will. Problem for Murray is he has limited power and if this goes to the cards in Germany, and Abraham being a mega star there, there's only one winner no matter what happens in the fight.

Hearn is kind of alluding to this. He says he would have preferred to build Murray up for an all Brit clash but by the sounds of it Murray over-ruled him

I'm favouring Murray in this, as long as he doesn't gas in the later rounds and has improved his ability to finish a fight. Abraham is old, slow and had some serious fights. Murray can outwork him.
