I really like Rigo, but man... I didn't realize he was 35 years old. He's wasting away. Not a lot of time left.Comment

WBO did the exact same thing with Demetrius Andrade. Stripped him for being inactive even though WBO didn't bother to issue him a mandatory to force him to stay active. It's BS.Comment

Rigo is toast, the leeches at Caribe said there were a lot of promoters waiting for Sept 15 to negotiate with him, no promoter is gonna touch w a 10 ft pole while he is with Carine. He's been naive or ****** enough to stay with them, its harsh but he is getting what he deserves.Comment

Caribe must've went to the Don King promoter school. Crazy stuff here. Great fighter, just wish the guy the best. Hope things work out for him. Wildest thing would be Rigo stripped of title, Donut Aire winning the title against whoever... meanwhile the vast majority of fans would know Rigo would beat Donut easier the 2nd time, but Donut would never rematch him. Whats amusing to me is that for months and months after the Donaire fight, all we heard from the RigoTards was "Arum is holding him back, Arum is in the way, Arum wont get him fights, Arum Arum Arum blah blah blah". Is it STILL Arums fault?Last edited by OnePunch; 10-07-2015, 10:17 PM.Comment

so because he might sign with Haymon, the 9 month defense rule should not apply to him? He should be given a special Haymon exemption from the rules? Got it.......Comment

The point of the mandatory system is not to do the champion any favors, and not to give the highest ranked fighters any favors. Forces the best in their rankings to fight the best. If nobody wants to freely fight the champ in voluntary, part of the mandatory system is to strip mandatory fighters of their rankings. Guys like Rigo and Demitrus are high risk/low reward, and not many are lining up. If the sanctioning body doesn't issue a mandatory, you get in this weird incentive where ranked contenders will instead wait for these risky champions that nobody wants to fight to get stripped, and jump in as soon as it becomes vacant in an opportunistic move. That's BS.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 10-07-2015, 10:52 PM.Comment

I agree in theory, but in practice you get situations like with Rigo, where even a purse bid order might not help, because either the mando doesnt want it, or Rigos side doesnt have the capability to win the bid and follow through. Its a mess, no doubt.......
But there really is no valid reason though that Caribe cant make a fight with someone in the top 15. Its either because Rigo wants 500k (or more) and the money just isnt there, or Caribe cant actually stage an event on their own. They could however win the bid, pay for the fight, and give/sell it to the japanese market in the meantime to keep their guy busy and relevant......
If I had to guess, I would suspect that the revenue isnt there to pay Rigo what he wants, and he wont take short money to stay busy. Thats just my opinion though......Last edited by OnePunch; 10-07-2015, 11:08 PM.Comment
