Comments Thread For: Theophane Inspired By Floyd Mayweather's Work Ethic

Ashley Theophane has credited his mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr and says 'Money' is always looking to offer his help.

The Londoner (39-6-1-KO11) is in line to face newly-crowned WBA super-lightweight world champion Adrien Broner, who has also spent time under the wing of the unbeaten Mayweather Jr.

With Mayweather Jr having confirmed his retirement on 49-0 in the wake of dispatching Andre Berto on points last month, Theophane has lifted the lid on life in the welterweight legend's stable.

i actually dont understand why people are so against a broner theophane fight myself. i mean everyone wants to talk about how broner is a B fighter but when he makes b fighter type fights people cry foul. not only that but he has shown a willingness to fight anybody and we all know his ego is to big not to take another big fight. but the reality is hes a 140 pound fighter and he should never of even went to 147. I think coming off the maidana and porter losses theophane is a great fight for broner he needs a few fights like this to gain confidence. It seems he understands this is it one more fight and thats it. I jus think people need to give it a rest and i personally think broner vs theophane makes sense with keeping in mind that the winner will fight better opposition. It looks like the WBA is positioning provo to fight for the belt at some point in the near future as long as he wins some fights

You make some good points but he's still saying **** like "I'm going to take over boxing now that Mayweather retired." If you want to talk like that, you don't call out Ashley Theophane after you beat an inactive Khabib Ala-something.

And from a fan's perspective, who is asking for this fight? Out of the billions of people in the world, only floyd seems to want it. There are better choices.

Very good points ...given how Broners 'going to take over boxing' Ashley doesn't fit the required, Crawford is a fight that would fit the bill.

I think it is a intriguing match-up..but I guess every fight has to be #1 Vs #1 in this era.

This ****ing guy might get a title shot for nothing besides Mayweather being his promoter. Tell me one time Lucas Matthysse got a shot like that for all of you pretending politics favor him.

Broner just got a title for beating a nobody and now he might defend it against an even bigger nobody. It's bull****.

Get real man. A "champion" is not supposed to be fighting guys as irrelevant as theophane. It is an absolute joke.
