Is that not also true for Ward fighting Kovalev? I would argue that this is the case even more so with Ward-Kovalev since Ward is closer to Light HW. Golovkin hasn't even fought at Super Middleweight. I really don't think it's fair that Golovkin should step up in weight, especially considering he hasn't even cleaned out the MW division yet. He's older than Ward and is at his natural weight at MW. Ward is comfortable at Super MW to Light HW. I don't understand the logic that says Golovkin should have to move up to SMW to fight Ward but Ward shouldn't go up to Light HW to fight Kovalev.

But even before the Smith fight Ward was accusing Ggg of having 8-9 excuses. Then it comes out Ggg said yes to HBO, Ward had an excuse lol. Fine, he was unable to fight but then Gtfo with the "8-9 excuses"

I don't see your point, though I'm sure it's stunningly ****** as usual. The guy says no to Hbo, has excuses. Comes back, looks for multiple tuneups, sends a joke offer to smaller hypejob. These guys would barely even mention them if he wasn't ****talking non stop. Hell without that we wouldn't have even found out it was Ward that said no to HBO. Or..... until he admits that Golovkin is not this avoided killer who will fight anyone, and is obviously subject to the exact same risk/reward decisions as any other fighter.

Golovkin would likely beat all, the only two who could give him trouble are maybe Lara and the Cotto/Canelo winner, he has ripped through pretty much everyone else. Lemieux wont beat him.

Middleweight is dead, other than Golovkin there are no good middleweights.

Lara would be a good win for Golovkin, other than that the best name that Golovkin could have on his resume would be the Cotto/Canelo winner, but he might not get that fight.

IMO GGG and his team hurt him with that "I'll or he'll fight anybody from 154-168" statement. Nobody was really calling for a Ward vs. GGG matchup until those statements kept being made by GGG team. Also GGG never came out said I didn't say that or flat disagree with those statements. So many fans felt GGG is on board with that statement.

For the record I think regardless of weight class Ward vs Kovalev is a better fight than Ward vs GGG.

Ward after a 2 year lay off is closer to LHW nobody has ever said that when Ward was an active fighter. Besides that many a fighter after a long lay off has come back to fight a few pounds over the limit that they usually fight at. So just because Ward after a 2 year lay off came back an fought 1 fight at 172 doesn't make him a light heavyweight.

Be honest GGG doesn't give a damn about cleaning out or unifying middleweight. GGG wants a big money fight with Cotto or Canelo and that is the only thing he cares about at middleweight. I say that because he was clearly ready to fight at 168 for Chavez jr and or Froch. Everything GGG does just like all pro-fighters is for the MONEY.
