He should have shouted, hollered at any newsman around that Ali was not ready and would never be. Dundee wasn't just Ali's biggest in ring adviser, he was someone who the media could turn to for info.

I respect Pecheco, who told Ali flat out to not fight beyond 1975/6 and Ali never listened, so he walked. Imagine if Dundee and Bundini and Wali and co all walked away, what would Ali have done then? He wouldn't have a manager or a coach or anyone. Plus, it would have merited journalistic investigations. What also startles me is that NO ONE in Ali's team knew that he was taking thyroid medications. That is beyond me and I simply do not believe it.

This was a tragedy and a sad, disturbing end to boxing's most glittering career.
If Ali's entire crew had walked away, who's to say that he wouldn't have just found another team to back him? The man has to accept responsibility for his actions. His pride got the best of him.

That's not the issue, the issue here is all of them feeding off the Ali name and then coming on TV and waxing lyrical about how horrible those last moments were. Of course it was ultimately Ali's decision but if the men who had been there for him for almost 20 years said, "Ali, stop"...he may not have gone ahead with it or he may not have jumped straight into a Holmes fighter or or or or .... at the end of the day, all those men would have played their part, whether or not Ali listened to them or not.

The point is, they didn't and then they spent decades making money off of retelling the story. They were leeches, each and every one.

How do you know none of them advised against his continuing to fight? Ali was charismatic, witty, prideful & very headstrong. It was probably very hard to say no to him. Your big argument that I responded to was that if all of Ali's people would have walked, maybe he would have been forced to quit. Now you're saying that they were leeches. What about the sanctioning bodies or the examining doctors who gave him the ok to fight & ignored & did not disclose signs of neurological deterioration? I hold them more responsible than his crew.

Ali Clay was anti American and far from a hero more zero

Clay-Ali was hated and despised in America outside of the blacks who had few heroes. Clay Ali was an obnoxious arrogant semi literate loud mouth who boxed and Clay added nothing to America outside of causing disdain and hatred towards those like Clay and the ******s who controlled Clay Ali. Clay withered away into a sickly old man who is pitied and yet also still shamed for being a draft dodging anti American nothing who would not defend his country. Seeing Clay-Ali being pitied and shaking away for 35 years seems to be justice for all of clay's anti american spurned hatred towards whites and God fearing people who are decent. Al Sharpton has done more for American than Clay ever did. Jesse Jackson also is more an American than the dimwitted Parkinson pitied Clay. Most of America feels nothing for Ali. JFK was a hero and Clay was just a zero.

Clay Ali got what he deserved a life of misery and pity

Clay Ali was abandoned by that alla babba dabba doo dud fanatic make believe cartoon guy and has received exactly what Clay Ali deserved a life of suffering and being pitied and still being hated by most of America. Clay ain't no fricking hero and Clay-Ali abandoned his country and became a puppet for those ******s fanatics crazies who are hated and still are hated in America. Seeng Clay Ali suffering and being pitied is justification for all the anti American things Clay-Ali did to this great Country we live in and love. American loves heroes and the thousands who died in Vietnam and Iraq are true American heroes and Clay Ali ain't no fricking hero and is despised. Shake away Clay as God still reigns supreme in the USA. No one cares. Pray for those kids who died defending American not some gutless coward like Clly Ali who let others die for him.

Holmes is on record of saying he never wanted to fight Ali in the ring, his idol, who Larry said was a no-win situation for him because Ali was so far past his prime. Holmes never wanted that fight but they kept throwing more and more money at him to make the fight happen. You're a real phukkin' idiot.
You ignorant ******** j@ckass. Next time do some research instead of talking smalk. You think I need to make up sh_t about Holmes? The guy's one of the most arrogant motherphuckers out there. Besides the video below, watch his comment about Ali at the end of the Frazier documentary.

I'll never forgot how ignorant and racist he was against his own black brother Joe Frazier. Seeing him behave like that was an eye opener to me. I don't go all gaga over the guy the way others do. In the ring though Ali was magical. I favor aggressive fighters and knockout punchers but sometimes certain fighters draw me in with their beautiful smooth boxing ability.

He was doing that to promote the fight and get under his skin. He later apologized and after the fight called Joe the best fighter ever (after him of course).
