Or that Wlad is good at nicking rounds he might otherwise lose. Jennings pushed Klitschko hard. There was nothing dominant about that performance.

Got to admit though, these pair of stools are not a patch on the likes of Tyson vs Holyfield say....

This is a step up in comp. I hope the fight gets made. Deontay better be on his game.

it was fairly competitve but not a close fight. wlad is 40 yrs old and jennings is in his physical prime. it doesnt impress me. the only reason jennings gets so much credit is becuz many thought wlad would walk thru him in 3 rounds. jennings fought too cautiously and seemed to only wanna last the distance instead of winning

yes it was jennings who fought too cautiously but not wlad who clinched 100 times.

I disagree. Guys who fight cautiously against Wlad don't last the distance. They get broken down. Bryant was clearly giving it a good go, constantly coming forward, landing punches, fighting in the clinch, not letting Wlad catch a break. That's why the fight went the distance. Wlad couldn't get into his usual rhythm because he was constantly having to respond to Bryant's aggression and gutsy attack.

If anyone was fighting timidly it was Wlad himself.

I can see this. Jennings wasnt always going forward, but he was always moving, thinking and looking for opportunities. He never let Wlad find his rythm. If you start becoming predictable (whether moving forward, bakwards or whatever) Wlad will work you out and break you down.

Thats something that interested me about the Fury fight. Fury isnt the best technician in the world, but he isnt predictable. He has fought a few different ways in the past and has the type of personality that makes his in ring actions as hard to predict as his out of ring ones. That is one of the best attributes to have vs Wlad imo.

I'd prefer Wilder fight his mandatory Povetkin next, since it's not fair to make him wait.

But Jennings is a very good boxer, so Wilder-Jennings is an interesting matchup.

I doubt Wilder will fight a difficult opponent like Jennings, it's probably just a rumor and the pampered Deontay will end up facing another journeyman. But you never know, after all he has to step up sooner or later.
