  • Comments Thread For: Wilder vs. Jennings on The Horizon For January 9th?

Rumors are swirling of a possible fight between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) and top rated challenger Bryant Jennings (19-1, 10 KOs) on January 9th.

The rumors began to circulate when Jennings posted a message to Wilder on Instagram on September 27th, hinting that a deal was being discussed for January 9th.

“Skills is elementary! Work on them feet champ, they flying all over the place. #Jan9th the day you got it The day you’ll lose it. @bronzebomber.”

Jennings and Povetkin are similar in height, I would like to see how Wilder fares with volume punchers such as Jennings. Nonetheless, Povetkin is way more of a threat than Jennings but it will be good preparation if the fight ever takes place. I think Amir Mansour is the ideal opponent for Wilder because he has power and similar in some ways to Povetkin .

This dude will do anything not to fight Povetkin. This is just my opinion, but if you need more time before fighting your mandatories, relinquish the belt and let other people fight for it.

He saw that Jennings failed to hurt Klitschko and feels confident he can take the punches.

Always thought he'd get a third fight in between his 2 straight mandatory defense order.... I'm cool if it's Jennings

So you cool if an American holds the belt hostage, but god forbid a non American does it... but it's justified since an American hasn't been to this level in so long

Was he suppose to fight Povetkin after his last voluntary fight?
