Jennings wasn't there to win but to survive, while Povetkin was there to fight.

Jennings will probably lose UD again to the taller guy if he fights Wilder. Povetkin is preparing by fighting a massive iron chin Wach.. this will be interesting

No not the only time... they mention pretty much all other title holders, including lil' g.

          • I don't see the problem here. He wants another fight in the next couple months to stay busy. I think they should let him have one if it's within the next few months.

Once Povetkin takes care of Wach, they can arrange to fight in March or April.

The only issue here would be if Povetkin takes out Wach, and then Wilder schedules another voluntary fight in February or March and forces Povetkin to wait even longer for his mandatory shot. But it seems he wants a fight in December or January and I don't think there's a problem with that.

            • How can anyone support that de****able coward Wilder?

Povetkin easily destroys Wilder and everyone knows it.

I'd certainly go to purse bids in Povetkin's situation. They'll win 100%.
I wasn't talking about Haymon showing faith in Wilder by trying to beat Ryabinsky in a purse bid. Ryabinsky has said he is ready to go as high as the $19million he bid to bring Wlad to Moscow, and Haymon won't top that.

But Ryabinsky also said he was willing to cooperate with Haymon in staging the fight in the USA. That would mean no purse bid and, obviously, a bigger share of the money for Povetkin than his mandatory cut from a purse bid.

That's what I was referring to. Wilder would get more money for going to Russia after a monster purse bid from Ryabinsky, but his chances of holding on to the title would be better if Haymon co-promoted the fight in America.

It's going to be interesting to see how Haymon plays this.

But that being said, Jennings is a good fighter and a much better opponent for Wilder than journeymen like Duhaupas and Molina.
Consecutive wins over Jennings and Povetkin and Wilder is clearly in line for a Wlad fight. That's a huge year if he fights Wlad in the fall..

The problem is that Wilder could have fought Povetkin in September, but Wilder chose to fight another voluntary opponent instead of fighting Povetkin. Now, he wants to fight a third voluntary opponent.

Wilder's team is trying everything they can to avoid a fight with Povetkin. I hope the WBC doesn't allow them to get away with this crap again. They should force him to fight Povetkin next or vacate the belt. Then, Wilder can fight whoever the hell he wants for no belt.
