Bernard Hopkins, who was last seen losing a clear cut decision to Sergey Kovalev last November in Atlantic City, still has designs on fighting one last time. And his swan song could come just weeks after his 51st birthday.

"I'm looking to go somewhere in January, I guess before the Super Bowl at the Barclay Center which has set aside a date for me and do my last one," said Hopkins on Saturday night underneath the bowels of the StubHub Center, where Golden Boy Promotions, staged the Viktor Postol-Lucas Matthysse card. The date being targeted is January 30th.

Hopkins has clearly faded, no question, now hes going to drop a division?

It is common toward the end of their career for great fighters to lose to opposition who did not deserve to share the ring with them when they were prime.

I hope that is not the case here.

Don't think that Abraham takes it, he has a contract with Sat 1 (big german tv channel) here and that fight would be at 5 am in the morning, no one would watch it and Sat 1 cannot even offer a PPV model. PPV is incredibly rare in germany, it sometimes happens for WWE / UFC events and then its usually about 15$ only. No one has ever paid a cent for Abraham or even the Klitschkos fighting, all fights are on free tv.

Also Abraham is supposed to fight Sturm.. can only imagine this fight happening in germany.

Agreed. HBO's not putting up big money for this mess, and the gate would suck in NY. Germany would put up the big tv money and give a great gate, but it's got to be on their prime time. I'm baffled why Hopkins is pushing for it at Barclays Center, Abraham's not traveling for peanuts.

Point is, he is dropping down in weight at a very late stage in his career.

It will not be the same Hopkins who fought Kovalev.

He may not even be able to make the weight and be healthy.
