  • Why Lucas Matthyse isn't a hypejob......

    1. To be a hypejob, you have to be overhyped. He wasn't . Most thought he was a good fighter with great power. He is good and he does have power.

    2. Anyone can be overrated but to be a hypejob implies a fighter was overhyped without proving anything or without being tested.

Lucas Matthyse has fought several quality fighters, won some and been competitive in losses, if not outright robbed.

Vivian Harris, Zab Judah, Demarcus Corley, Devon Alexander, Humberto Soto, Lamont Peterson, Danny Garcia, Ruslan Provodnikov.

    3. Viktor Postol is not that bad of a fighter. Unknown to most of us, but several in the boxing media picked an upset. The guy is 28-0, has some skills and 6 ft. tall at 140. He'd give a lot of guys problems. Hell, he'd be a stylistic nightmare for Manny Pacquiao.

the hype that comes from the media is more important that the hype that comes from a boxing web site. the media builds reality, and they told people broner was floyd's second coming. now aside from some youtube chanel were was lucas hype?

I agree that Postols size is going to be a problem for most if not all 140 lbrs. The guy is giant and lanky in a division where most guys are 5'5-5'8. Mathysse couldn't even come within punching range and when he did he was clinched. I'm not making excuses for the loss but I still feel Mathysse is the more talented of the two. However Pistol is rangy and fleet footed. I also believe he would give midget Pac problems.

I watched many of his fights, but he surprised me, and I bet against a winner. My bad.

He was without doubt a boxingscene and online boxing community hypejob. He got way too much hype on here man the **** his fanboys used to come out with was nauseating.

He's a world level fighter and a good fighter who should have had the IBF title after beating Peterson. He's good enough to be a belt holder just not someone who stands out from the pack.

To put it simply he is not and will never be elite.

Spot on, Postol said sparring Ruslan was harder than sparring Pacquiao. He lost, it happens but he is far from a hypejob. He consistently proved that he was top 3 in the division for the past few years. Just never established himself as #1.

He wasn't a media hyoejob but he was a boxing geek hyoejob. We tend to overhype fighters that don't get mainstream attention.

he has 6-7 inches on pac.

i think only a very strong inside fighter can give postol issues.

bully him inside, work the body, overpower him when he tries to clinch, etc.
