Comments Thread For: Golovkin Ready: I Will Be Prepared For Lemieux's Power

If David Lemieux boasts a puncher's chance in his upcoming middleweight title unification bout, Gennady Golovkin doesn't seem very concerned. The unbeaten knockout artist remains confident of his own skillset - and equalizer, if it comes to that - ahead of their October 17 HBO Pay-Per-View headliner at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

While it goes without saying that Lemieux represents the biggest puncher Golovkin has faced to date, the rising star from Kazakhstan is an overwhelming favorite to win. The bout will mark his 15th attempted defense of at least one title dating back to 2010, as he also comes in having knocked out 20 straight opponents.

I can't wait to see this fight live at MSG. I've seen GGG walk through hard punches and shake them off. However, if he gets too confident and tries to put on a show he may taste the canvas for the first time. Lemieux can punch as hard as he can, so GGG needs to be cautious because he has shown he can be hit. That's what makes this fight exciting since it will be bombs away.

I really want Gennady to be more defensive in this fight (not Ward or Wlad defense lunging to hug after a ****ing jab)

I know what you mean. Just show a little more respect for his opponents power and not pull the provodnikov.

The secret lies in his amateur background as he has fought and defeated many who turned pro.

L has a great shot because he has a great punch but the skill of getting thru all of GGG's experience will get him in a fix and KO'd!

I actually want to see the opposite - Golovkin showing no respect in an attempt to "show off" his chin, and whether it can withstand a shot from one of the hardest punchers in the division.

If he gets knocked down, he'll only get back up and win anyway; Lemieux has no plan B after a few rounds. The after-effect of a Golovkin KD might be that the other MWs might suddenly be more willing to fight him.
