You obviously are ashamed of his resume yourself if you have to do that.

I don't rate someone P4P based on the perpetuated myth that no one will fight them.

Same thing happened with Paul Williams. Everyone rated that guy so highly based off the hype of people being scared of him. I knew he'd get exposed when he started facing better competition.

Williams at least took risks unlike Golovkin whose people are more than content to play it safe.

you don't rate somebody base don who is avoiding them. you do, however, consider why they're avoiding him. golovkin is very, very good. he's got an awful style. he's a life taker with a great chin and jab, and very well schooled offense. he'll get your guy on the ropes and knock him out. that's why he's being avoided. promotors and matchmakers are not dumb people.

vegas would have golovkin favored over any MW on the planet. you probably wouldn't even get good odds on betting golvokin to win via knockout.

you also ignored the fact that he beat the heck out of a guy who went to argentina and got robbed of the MW championship against martinez.

golovkin is on a lot of pound for pound lists, and for good reason. there are not 10 better fighters on the planet, pound for pound. a p4p list is not a comparison of resumes. its a measurement of ability. you must account resume [competition] in your assessment of ability, but you're not simply counting wins and stacking them up against eachother. that's nnot what a pound for pound list is.

There are plenty of reasons why people might not be fighting him. One of them could be fear but that's based on perception and hype again. Someone can look spectacular knocking out no hopers and then completely bottle it under the bright lights against a top level fighter.

It's a measurement of ability but if you've never proven that ability against a top level fighter, then I don't rate you.

Another is that he simply doesn't bring financial reward to the table. People like Mayweather, Cotto or Carl Froch aren't going to get out of bed to fight him for a fraction of what they earned in their previous fights. Golovkin is becoming more of a money maker now and I wouldn't be surprised to see more people step up to fight him including Froch coming out of retirement.

I don't ignore that he beat Martin Murray. I also don't ignore that Martin Murray is **** average and tailored made for his style. I mean, what the hell was Martin Murray ever going to do against Golovkin's style?

      • Golovkin is like Chavez Jr a few years back. He has this shiny undefeated record because his handlers only let him fight bums.

          • Froch has earned his right to list fighters and P4P

Froch was a warrior who did well and faced the best fighters and always gave a good showing win or lose. Froch is probably the UK's greatest fighter ever with 2nd place way behind with Hatton the wee Ricky maybe? Since Lennox was Jamaician via Canada only Froch jumps out as England's finest short as that list may be. Great in the UK is only average in America but again the UK is no where near the USA in anything but fantasy land living.

            • Hopefully this Lemeux fight will usher in an era of fighting bigger names. And I'd like to see him fight the only guy that calls him out and means it, Lara. Although I'm sure it will be an abysmal track meet.

He was born in England, so I count him as English more than Jamaican or Canadian whether he likes it or not.

who are these top fighters that golovkin needs to prove himself against? [not my best structured sentence, but you get the idea.]

                  supermiddleweights?

golovkin was 350 and 5 in the amateurs, and won a silver medal in the olympics. he does not have a style that is well suited for the amateurs. he was just very, very good.

continue to compare him to chavez jr, a guy who is only on TV because he's the son of a legend, and who hardly trains.

The only person I care about seeing him fight at Middleweight is Canelo and if he can dispatch him in style then I would be quite impressed.

After that, he's going to have to graduate from the kiddie table and fight at 168. Full weight limit, no vaseline.
