  • ok here it is, ward has less top names on his record than anybody in the top ten and thats a fact. he only had two names in super six and those are tTHEE only names his record shows as winning. hes not top ten but just for the ward fans (americanzzzzzzzzzzzz) i will say, its still early and give the boy time.
galovkin.........its pretty hard to tell for sure but i think ward, hunter are far more scared of him than cotto and roach. miguel cotto is tried and tested...won and lost..but, i think if galovkin connected with either mans chin its game over.
back to whos best or better...if it were not for his inactivity it would be juan manuel marquez no question. hes always been in the top 5 over the last decade and has a conclusive knockout against the apparent "2nd best" plus 3 additional wins against the same man and a remarkable record.
klitchko isnt worth talking about and why? well look at sven ottke!? exactly!!!
    a heavyweight sven ottke.
i would put andre ward in the frame for a top supermiddleweight but, far from the best in the world as carl says just because he lost to him....didnt georgey groves have him on the floor in the 1st fight? didnt he just lose to a relatively unknown badou jack? and hes the best? only in america!!!!!

Some base it on who they think would win a head-2-head fight in a size indifferent world. Personally, I think q good list has a lil of both. Example, I haven't felt Floyd Mayweather was the best fighter in the world since the first Maidana fight. I think in a size indifferent world, there's 4-5 guys out there I'd pick to beat him. First on that list being Rigondeaux, who I feel is the beat fighter in the world. But, Floyd's skill level is still elite. Plus, he has a resume that trumps anyone that I feel is technically a better fighter today. Therefore, he's maintained the title of P4P King in my own lil boxing univerae.

Either way, I think folks nowadays put way too much stock in the P4P lists. P4P is fun to debate around the water cooler. But, divisional dominance is most important. At the end of the day, that's all the fighters have that they themselves can handle in the boxing ring.
My opinion pretty much lines up with urs, skills and opposition. For me opposition is more solid and measureable than the head-to-head reasoning. The way i see it, what good are skills if ur not facing the best...prime examples being Rigo and Ward, who have the most potential to be the #1

          • I'm a fan of both fighters, and Froch makes a good point. I would rank Ward, Crawford, Gonzalez, Kovalev, Floyd (if he's still fighting), **** probably Inoue, Klitschko, Canelo, Cotto, and a lot of other fighters over GGG. His resume is not that good YET.

If anything I would think he would say GGG would destroy Ward if that were true

I think he would think that embarrassing to say.

It's funny when someone cleans out their division practically single handed they normally command a bit more respect than folks here want to show. Call the division weak but none of the other top 20 fighters has even come close. Perhaps if Rigo was fighting more consistently, Pacquaio's best win in recent memory has been over Bradley...Marquez has not fought in two years, Miguel Cotto has beaten a barely licensed to fight maravilla and rodriguez in recent memory, Kovalev and Klitschko are the only current boxers dominating a division as close as golovkin has.

Funny...how about you hanging off my nuts right now Joe. Don't worry when Cotto gets sparked don't act otherwise!

Funny your b*Tch ass mentions that when Ward has HBO sit him down to discuss the fight he did what? Oh ok. But now that Ward wants it on his terms this guy is supposed to pass up his mandatory shot at WBC unification glory. Fck Ward he sat on his @ss doing his business for nearly 2 years and now the world is supposed to jump for him. Oh and by the way Ward just fought at 172, when he makes 168 again holla at me. The funny thing is that if Golovkin had taken that fight at 168 right now and sparked Ward ya'll would say "He was out of the ring for 2 years" and that would be the entire narrative The same way morons like you crowed about the hate Floyd got is the same hate ya'll putting on this cat cause he's white and you know i'm right about that. There is a reason why every time golovkin beats someones ass such and such black fighter would whop him. How many mofo's around here were talking that curtis bullshhh he got sparked and now it's ward or lara. Lara who talks shhh everytime he's about to announce a fight and Ward who's managed to beat a whopping 2 total fringe contenders in the last 2 plus years.
Just wanted to address your request of a champion who has been as dominant as Wlad since Floyd is gone now... Andre Ward. He was out of the ring nearly 2 years, and there's absolutely no question as to who the best Super Middleweight in the world is. When you've cleaned your division out to the point that there's no one to challenge your reign after 20 months, and the only threat you have is the very best guy at the weight division above you, I'd say that's a sign of dominance.

When considering p4p i look at skills AND opposition and ive always assumed thats the collective criteria. Ward established himself as the #1 SMW with his Super 6 wins and proved his superiority over that crop of fighters, who are no longer active or retired. Theres a brand new crop of SMWs who Ward has yet to face. His inactivity has dropped his rating. Froch, Kesslar, etc., are all great wins, dont get me wrong but that was 4 yrs ago, and although he hasnt lost, he has yet to reassert himself over the current top SMWs. Same goes for Rigo, dude has sublime skills but theres gotta be a point when opposition level is considered.

I like GGG but hes not top10 P4P...neither is Brook. One fighter im sure abput; Vlad is THE P4P #1 in the sport right now. Outside of him i gotta admit its difficult to pick the rest when almost nobody is fightn each othrr. Boxing is in a sad sad state. If it wasnt for the smaller wts we wouldnt see top vs top. WW is probably the most overrated div atm also.
I can agree with this. The king of the heavyweights is generally the king of boxing, and Wlad has been quite the dominant king. He's on a legendary run. It'd be something to see him take down Joe Louis' record.
