Boy, you Kell fans really are something else...
Khan's last 3 opponents are more accomplished than Kell's last 3.
Alexander, Algieri and Collazo were world champions.
Jo Jo Dan, Frankie Gavin and Diego Chaves were never world champions.
Chaves has come up short all 3 times he stepped up. He got taken out by Thurman. He Andrew Golota'd his way out of a victory against Rios and got a gift draw vs. Bradley. He's a C-level fighter who has never won a major title and who never will.
Kell has one significant victory on his resume and that's against Porter. Let's hope he fights more opponents like that in the future and less like Chaves, Dan and Gavin.

Timothy Bradley believes THE RING’s No.1-ranked welterweight Kell Brook is underestimating the threat of Argentine Diego Chaves ahead of his IBF title defense next month.
Unbeaten Brook (35-0, 24 knockouts) meets Chaves (23-2-1, 19 KOs) on Oct. 24 in his home city of Sheffield, England, and is being widely tipped to retain his belt for the third time. However, 147-pound rival Bradley, who fought to a split draw with Chaves in Dec. 2014, insists such an outcome is far from certain for the British star.
Pointing to Chaves’ decent displays against some of the division’s elite, the American warns that 29-year-old Brook and a sell-out partisan crowd at the Sheffield Arena should prepare themselves for a long, hard night.
“It’s a tough fight for Kell Brook. He doesn’t realize that,” said Bradley, the magazine’s No. 4-ranked welterweight. “Diego Chaves is underrated. He has had a few opportunities and came up short but the guy can box and he can fight on the inside.
“He has good power in both hands and Chaves can mix it up. I think it’s a tough fight for Brook – but if he can get him out of there, then Brook is something special; I can tell you that much!
“Chaves gave Keith Thurman problems and he gave myself problems and he was giving Brandon Rios problems too. I think he’s a great fighter. It’s a dangerous fight for Brook.”

Being a world champion doesn't mean much these days. Chaves has come up short against Thurman and Bradley, two top 5 guys at 147. And he gave them both a very good fight. I consider him to have a W over Rios, which is pretty much on par with a win over Provonodkiv, who Algieri beat to become a world champ.
He's absolutely not a C level fighter, he's got a good amateur background, he fought guys like Lara and Andrade in the ams, he's got good skill and he's tough as shown in all his fights. I'm not saying he's some elite A level guy, but he's no worse than Alexander or Algieri, no chance.

At the end of the day you people are going by ifs, buts, would've, should've and could've. Fact of the matter is Chaves is going in to this fight as someone who has always fallen short when it counted.

Not that he is a bum, but even then.
Chaves is solid, he may even pull an upset, but he goes in this fight as someone who came up short in all 3 of his step ups. May be he'll win a title or beat a name later on, but that would be irrelevant to this event. Johnny Nelson's early beaters can't claim they beat a World level fighter cuz Nelson went in to those fights as a journeyman.
-Gave Thurman a tough time before getting stopped.
-Drew with Bradley
-Was winning against Rios before the DQ.
Cringe.
