Comments Thread For: Roach: Canelo Does Nothing Better Than Cotto - Nothing!

Trainer Freddie Roach is not worried in the least, as WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) gears up for his very anticipated title defense against Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Canelo is younger, some believe to be bigger and growing in stature. Cotto is feeling a career turnaround after hooking up with Roach in early 2013.

Canelo takes a better punch. Cotto has been rocked on numerous occasions.

Trout is a non factor, if anything the Trout win motivated Canelo to take Trout very serious. Fighting Mayweather elevated Canelo's game b/c albeit controversial I was impressed how he fought a more determined fight against Lara. He refused to surrender something I thought he definitely did against Mayweather.

Now on the flip side Cotto looked good but lost convincingly lost against Mayweather and for the most part has looked great ever since. Whether it's a catch weight, ring size, trainer or what have you once you sign & step foot in that ring I don't want to hear about nothing else but a failed drug test.

Cotto v Canelo is a mouth watering fight but the hater and hardcore boxing fan in me hates that this fight is for the lineal middle weight title but beggars can't be choosers.

I dont see either fighter dominating the other. It was be a close combative boxing match. I have to give the edge to Canelo though. I dont like the way Cotto has to always reset after throwing punches.

One word: pedigree. Canelo is a joke...i don't care if he hits hard with some technique...Cotto is going to show him the door fight night.

Cotto has pretty much eliminated having to reset with Roach. He also is not wasting so much energy jumping around like he did vs. Floyd. Much more balanced and improved foot work and angles, his punching power seems stronger as well.

I got King Cotto by stoppage under 10 rounds!
