I don't think it's the shade of the fighter. You do realize that if a white fighter had half the success as a mayweather he would be a massive star. I think the real problem is how khan begs. Look I actually like khan and think he's a pretty talented fighter. But fighters like Floyd and manny earned their positions by beating top competition and/or performing well on ppv.
When you look at floyds body of work or even pacquioa's body of work, it's light years ahead of what khan has accomplished. The dude just needs to take out a few top names (your only as relevant as your last win), and he will position himself to have more leverage. It's how this boxing game has always worked brotha.
