Chocolatito has officially made it to the spotlight. When people pull at straws to bring you down than he has officially made it to the top. I'm not even mad.

Marvin Hagler and Tyson Douglas are two of the most overused scapregoats by boxing fans.

Huge underdog: "He can win, don't forget Tyson-Douglas."

Guy never moves up, stays in a division feasting on average fighters and waiting for others to move up to fight him: "Marvin Hagler did it."

There issues with using these scapegoat excuses for every similar situation but for this post I will only get in the why is it wrong to use Marvin Hagler when the subject of babysitting a weight class comes up.

Marvin Hagler fought ATG's like Hearns, Duran and Leonard, he never moved up in weight. What is the difference of let's say GGG waiting for Cotto or Canelo to come up and Hagler fighting Hearns, Leonard and Duran. First, the size. Hearns was a huge WW, Leonard was a huge WW, Duran didn't even stop at MW, dude kept going to 168, and so did SRL and Hearns. SRL and Hearns were big enough to pull that off. Hearns was big enough to go to Cruiserweight. Hearns won a major title at 175lbs, and SRL won a major title at 168.

Okay now, Cotto has weighed 153 -155lbs in his MW fights, it is obvious that Cotto at this age, is not going anywhere near weighing in at full 160lbs and obviouly will not be able to go to 168 ever in his career. Too short, too small, 5'7" 155lbs, he is not an actual MW. Canelo has a better chance of going to full 160 once he gets a little older, like a year or 2 from now. But you see the difference between SRL/Hearns and Cotto/Canelo, huge difference in height and potential to go up above 160. So it wasn't like Hagler was waiting on midgets to come up to fight him, these guys were the same size as Hagler and they were taller than him except for Duran.

Well, we all know that Chocolatito wouldn't ask Ward for a catchweight, unlike that one puss-puss.
