He's cleaned out the division three times over. The Top 10 of the 2006-2010 days are all gone and he has started cleaning out the other half of the decade of his title reign, starting with Haye > Alexander > Pulev and now Fury. All that's left is Wilder and Joshua.

I'm not a particular fan of either of them, but I respect Wlad for taking on whoever they put in front of them.
Not to mention that Floyd literally doesn't have to fight Top ranked fighters and can cherry pick withing or outside of his division. It's all subjective.

When you're forced to stay in one division, you fight the Old, the new, the prime, the past prime, the up and coming, and all the undefeated fighters. And Wlad has done that. Floyd due to economic reasons has stayed away fro African-American fighters and unless the whole world was clamoring for him to fight one (like they did with Pacquiao) he usually stays away from them. It's all Hispanic/Latino named fighters.

What African-American fighters could he have fought?

in fairness to the klit, there hasnt really been any competition to the crown except david haye, he is the only real threat hes faced since getting ktfo by corrie sanders.
there just hasnt been any competition...the ***** is no different and will get easily beaten but, being a diddycoy they do keep getting up so it will be a long night but daddy will have to stop it at about round 8 and going back to the caravan. give david haye another crack at it in a different country once hes climbed back up the l;adder ofcourse.

Golovkin fights the same level of competition and obliterates them much more impressively, but no one has him at #1. Kovalev does, too. Pacquiao didn't need to hold 200 times to beat a lesser opponent and knock him down 5 times. Gonzalez beats better competition and looks better.

So what case is there for Wlad? He has a worse resume and worse performances than the other fighters who could be p4p #1.
No it's for other reasons. He was about to become #1 then 5 others were moved on top of him when Floyd retired and looking at the fights that all involved fighters have been in, it really doesn't have any logical explanation. There was no reason they'd love him a few months ago and hate him now.

P4P lists are still a joke. Always will be. At their very best they're subjective wild guesses. At their worst (99% of the time) they're paid marketing.

maybe they watched his fights and realized he was a fraud who clinches nonstop in almost every fight and said how is that the best boxing has to offer? same could be said about ward and hence why gonzalez is #1. a guy who doesn't cheat and actually boxes who also has a very good resume. makes perfect sense to me.
