Nah, he needs to go up to 147 and go after Manny. Finish him off. I doubt Pac will have enough in 2016 to beat him.

Half of the guys at 147 in the next few years were/are/will be the guys he was a candidate to face at 140 anyway like Crawford, Manny, Garcia, Maidana, Bradley, Khan, etc. Not a big deal.

just stay at 140 until he retires, i can't fault him or anybody for taking a big money fight at a higher/lower division though

He's not getting that fight before Crawford so I'd say pretty unlikely. Matthysse has the skills to rule 140 and beat everybody there. Postol is arguably his hardest fight because of the style and size of Postol. He went to war with Provodnikov, you'll have to outbox Matthysse or kill him before he knocks you the phuck out.

Imam is the only guy with considerable power and Imam has been dropped recently.

Matthyse can have wins over these names:
          Herrera
          Imam
          Benavidez
          Crawford
          Postol
          Broner
          Cuenca (Argentine vs Argentine unification)

          He already has wins over:
          Peterson (shocking fashion)
          Provodnikov (decisive war)
John Molina (one of Broner's best 3 wins)
          Soto

It would be a great resume if he won it all then he gets his rematch with Garcia at 147 after Danny gets the titles at Welterweight.

The WW's right now aren't that big anyway, he's not going to be that out of his depth. Brook, Porter, and only a couple others are 'natural' WW's where I'd say Ok he's going to be physically moved by them. I doubt that would be the direction he went anyway, he's be at WW taking some big fights against the others who he measures up against. some big fights to cap his career off hopefully. It's different than Maidana's situation where most of the 154 PBC'ers that I can think of are pretty fit and young... and he'd be dealing with the 10oz glove. Maidana could win a fight at JMW, but trying to sustain a run there would be difficult, Matthysse could find fights more fights at WW. still good fights at LW too so doesn't matter to me

I'll wait to see what he does with someone of Postol's dimensions and re-assess

Yeah, but who do you want him to fight at 140 next? (if he can't get Crawford)

It'd be a good fight no doubt but I don't think Matthysse would stand a chance. Aggressive boxer-puncher who doesn't have fleet of foot or hands, Pac will box circles around Matthysse.

Maybe I just don't believe it but I don't think most guys can beat Manny even at this stage. Personally think Pac could unify some titles if he really wanted to.
