Comments Thread For: Hunter: I Hope Amir Khan Fights Kell Brook at Some Point

One of the biggest fights to be made on British soil is a welterweight showdown between rivals Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) and Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs).

Brook is defending his IBF world title next month against Diego Chaves.

The two fighters have been trading words for the last two years. Brook has done his best to bait Khan into the ring, but the Bolton fighter was more focused on a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and is now negotiating a possible fight with Manny Pacquiao early next year. Khan will probably be calling Hunter a Brook nuthugger on twitter by the end of the day.

Before Brook held a belt it was "he hasn't done anything". Now it is "he hasn't fought anybody". If Brook loses some time soon there will be zero chance of a fight unless he loses so badly that Khan spies an opportunity.
I see Khan's line of thinking. Build it up even further until it is enormous. Let Brook build his name a bit more with the Brit casuals. But the risk that one or other loses is large and then it won't be as big a fight as it is right now.
Chavez, assuming Brook wins, is a better opponent at welterweight than any Khan has fought to date. If Brook takes him out convincingly Khan's reasons not to fight will be even more spurious than they are now.

When a trainer publicly says his fighter should face ‘X’ but the fighter seems unwilling, you know there’s fear in the air. Khan probably believes he can beat Brook, but he also knows a loss to Brook is the end of the road at elite level.

It’s more than just win/lose. Everything is at steak and Khan doesn’t fancy his chances that much.

No one can force Khan to fight anyone but in not doing so Amir and his team don't seem to get what everyone else does ......there is a reason for walking away from a shot at the title , in front of 80,000 fans at the National stadium Wembley in London England on PPV with by far the biggest purse of his career .The reason is not that Amir doesn't like money or fame or even as Amir suggests it as an easy fight. Amir knows Brook is a big welterweight with power in both hands and a hungry young lion , thats why Amir has gone walkabouts.
Amir doesn't want the welterweights the only reason he moved up was to try and bag a payday with Floyd and now he's stalking Manny for a pay day that he's done little to deserve this is exactly why fans do not like Amir Khan.

Khan is not trying to be the best welterweight in the world. His only agenda for coming up to 147 was to cash out. Now that his plan has backfired, he's HOPING the fight with Pacman could be made since that's the next best option in terms of money.

Khan will NEVER step into the ring with likes of Brook, Thurman, Spence, or Garcia IF he can avoid it. He knows that in all probability his losses to Peterson and Garcia killed whatever chances he had to be a ppv attraction and his performance against Algieri was very underwhelming in what was to be a SHOWCASE fight, and such killed his chance to face Floyd.

If Khan cannot get Pac, I bet he retires from the sport.
