  • Comments Thread For: George Groves, Fitzpatrick Appear To Be Parting Ways

Paddy Fitzpatrick expects George Groves to hire a new trainer after the Irishman oversaw a third world title defeat.

Fitzpatrick took the reins in late 2013 when Groves parted company with Adam Booth midway through the training camp for the first defeat to super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch.

A knockout in the famous rematch at Wembley followed and, despite tune-up victories over Christopher Rebrasse and Denis Douglin, Groves suffered an agonising split decision defeat in his third tilt at a world crown - losing to Badou Jack in Las Vegas on September 12.

It really has and I am loving every minute.

          Nothing less than he deserves.

About time, Gavin is an abysmal trainer.

              He has taken Groves backwards.

Now's as good a time as any for Groves to crawl back to Booth, with whom he belongs. Since he left Booth, we've seen none of his feints, head movement or explosive power that he had up until the first half of the first Froch fight. Either he fell in love with his power to ditch those feints, or something else happened. Regardless, I'm very sure Booth would get him back to winning ways again.

I'll admit Groves' fall from grace has been laughable, but I'm over it now. For the rest of this year and 2016 I want to see him grafting at British/Euro level, and maybe salvage that DeGale rematch one day if he manages to get a fourth crack at a world title. Groves is too talented to be wasting away with trainers who don't exploit his natural style.

Groves is one fight away from another shot, love him or hate him people will pay to watch it.
Paddy is an egotistical arrogant twat, who believes he has the fight won from the opening bell. Groves lost all of that aggression in froch2 and the jack fight.
Groves should stick Froch in his corner, just to get himself wound up.
