They were begging for a Froch fight this year.

Ward hasn't been in a clinchfest in 5 or 6 years. That excuse doesn't fly anymore. And again, no one cared about this **** when Golovkin was the one chasing fights. Risk and reward didn't matter until he was the one making those excuses.

Who needs to clinch when you're fighting Rodriguez and Paul Smith? Give me a break, his style is still unattractive. He's not going to do it against fighters who pose no threat.

They were after Froch ever since last summer at least, until he decided to retire. Remember Froch's infamous quotes that really speak for themselves. The first one was a 1.5 years old, the other one from last fall.

HBO cares about that stuff, duh. You don't want to set yourself up for failure with the guys' first PPV.

Lee, Cotto, and Alvarez are no more "on the horizon" than they were when Golovkin was begging for the Froch fight and his entire fanbase was calling Carl Froch, one of the few fighters in the sport who has done everything you could ask of him, a coward. Finances and risk/reward and all that crap didn't matter to the Golovkin fanbase.

Now Andre Ward, an opponent who gets Golovkin his biggest payday, a big PPV, and immediate recognition as the best fighter on the planet, is being dismissed and Golovkin's fanbase is using every excuse they called Froch and his team a coward for using. Froch hadn't fought in over a year and was just as inactive as Ward, but his inactivity didn't matter. The fact that Golovkin offered little to Froch didn't matter. Neither did unifying the division.

Bunch of ****ing hypocrites.

That's the thing that gets me about them. The hypocrisy. It's off the charts.

Froch beat Abraham before Ward.
Froch beat Dirrell, when it came time for Dirrell and Ward to fight, they made excuses.
Froch fought Kessler first in a fight many thought could of gone both ways, got his revenge and beat Kessler in the 2nd fight. Ward beat Kessler also.
Froch had a tougher Super Six route than Ward who never wanted to travel outside the states(no risks).
Froch beat Groves, another top 5 SMW.

I agree, it's high time he gives fans the competitive fight they deserve vs Kovalev, but he seems reluctant to even commit to Yunieski Gonzales lol

I wanted Golovkin to be the one who takes Wards 0, not Kovalev though...

It still can happen if Golovkin finishes his business at MW, moves up become the man at SMW while Ward somehow manages to beat Kovalev..

It's a very unlikely scenario but still, one can hope.

Beating Froch is just that, beating Froch. It's not cleaning the division out. A division is not 1 or 2 boxers. Especially when there is other top boxers that fight or fought there.

He didn't need to clinch at all to beat Carl Froch or Arthur Abraham, who were still titleholders this year. He hasn't excessively clinched at all besides Kessler.

We all know you're actually just scared that Ward will beat Golovkin and not need to clinch once doing it, so you're trying your hardest to both discredit him and pretend he doesn't exist.

It's unbelievable. Golovkin fans should try careers in politics with how badly they have backslid and double-talked lately. They've been absolutely awful.

And they'll still call everyone who doesn't fight Golovkin a coward when they don't fight him for the same reasons Golovkin gives not to fight someone.
