  • Comments Thread For: Wilder: I Don’t See Myself Staying in Boxing Too Long

Deontay Wilder’s detractors used to think it wasn’t long before his knockout streak would be ended and so, too, would his chances of becoming something in the heavyweight division. But the 29-year-old won a heavyweight title this year with a decision over Bermane Stiverne and has defended it once since, with his second defense coming against Johann Duhaupas on the Sept. 26 broadcast of “Premier Boxing Champions” on NBC.

I bet he's going to quit boxing about 5 minutes into his fight with Klitchko. If he gets that far.

It would be smart of him considering he has made his money and the HW division is taxing on the body and mind. However, it's a bit disappointing seeing this business minded / oriented generation of fighters. It goes against the very nature of the fighting spirit but at the same time you can't blame them when you look at the grand scheme of things.

Wilder is a great guy, one of the nicest people in the sport, I'll respect any decision he considers most beneficial for himself and his family.

lol, I'm so paranoid over if he'll ever fight povetkin. After this french pig on the 26th, he might go after Klitschko before Povetkin (he's allowed to, champ vs champ) just to dodge povetkin and lose to a better person. Then.. probably retire or fight Fury then retire

This saddens me, I'm a wilder fan and I really hope he didn't mean 10 years and finishing in 2018..
