That was many years ago. Today GGG is rank way above Ward on the pound for pound list of ESPN, RING MAGAZINE, BOXREC, BOXING SCENE and all other such lists. Read today's pound for pound lists and weep. Ward's not there anymore. You don't stay at the top of the pound for pound list today for fights you won five years ago.

ring jsut rearranged its p4p list in the most perplexing way ever, swapping guys who should have remain unchanged since nothing has really happened with them and slipping ward back to #2 for is amazing run of a couple stay-busy fights in the past half decade

im starting to think they just draw cards out of a hat

both should just focus on their own divisions ward aint leaving 168 so he should just clean up the division again and golovkin will probably stay at 160 and clean up his division both are getting older so if they wanna make the fight happen they better do it soon but egos play a role i personally think golovkin should go up in weight to fight ward but if ward wins i dont think he'll get the credit deserved as ggg is reallly a 160 pounder

Not sure if you are joking, but how did he make Abraham come to 168? AA was already a top 5 SMW and a Super 6 contestant wth four 168 fights.

Ward should focus on 168 and then go to 175. He is in a more respectable division. First he has a fellow Olympic Gold medalist to take care of in IBF champion James DeGale, which would be a tough fight for him. He also has a WBC title to take back from Bodou Jack. After that, hopefully Kovalev would have already KO'ed Stevenson and claimed The Ring/WBC championship at 175 where Ward can fight him in a huge fight between the two best undfeated fighters of the sport, #1 and #2 P4P Ward and Kovalev respectfully. Both are 28-0 right now so let's see, hopefully we see them fight at 30-0, that would be cool.

Let Golovkin stay in his weak division, getting wins over Lemieux, Lee, Saunders, Jacobs or Quillin.

I'm excited about Ward vs DeGale, Jack and Kovalev. I really hope these fights happen.

The ring dropped Ward from their p4p list because of inactivity, then put him straight back in at number 2 after he beat Paul Smith!

Ring rankings have no credibilty at all

Wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'd have Ward as a heavy favourite and I think Ward-Kovalev is a lot more interesting. Don't see why it would be a priority for Golovkin either. The Canelo-Cotto winner is a better fight for him in almost every way.

Beating the winner of Canelo-Cotto will be a huge win. This is the same old game. This guy over here has done more, even though his style his boring and no one cares about him. GGG does not need this fight. Would he lose? Well maybe. Ward is slick enough to stay away for twelve rounds in Oakland and get a decision. What would that do for GGG's career? Nothing. And then all the Ward fans could sit back and gloat over a worthless PPV where GGG has to walk around branded by the boring dude beat me. No thanks. GGG should stick to his division and beating the best as his optimal weight. Ward has done nothing the past couple of years and is irrelevant without the right opponent. That opponent should be someone as boring as him. Oh but that won't work will it? Tired of those who rob us trying to rob the future of the sport as well. GGG is a real star who brings excitement. He does not need Ward for anything. He made the right decision.

Excellent point. Nothing in it for either of them. GGG made the right call.

semi-joking, but AA was a MW brought into the Super-6
