Hard to compare the time periods directly. Social media makes promoting a different game than it was for virtually all of Tyson's significant fights. Tyson/Holyfield and Tyson/Lewis would have sold more I think if they had occurred later. Mayweather/Pacquiao, May/ODLH, May/Canelo etc wouldn't have sold as many as they did in earlier years. But how would they really compare to each other when normalized? I have no idea.

Still, I think it's hard to argue against Mayweather's success.
Pacquaio-Mayweather and Mayweather-Oscar sell any time.

But you make good points. Social Media makes a big difference. It's hard to compare because of that.

Tyson was probably the bigger star, but it's definitely arguable.

Put a prime mike Tyson in the post Floyd odlh period and he sh it's on Floyd's numbers.
Right now you can't really compare especially when he was fighting for $40-$50 PPV and mayweather started fighting for $60-$75.
But to see iron tony Danza fight to th death for Floyd is fawking hilarious
I'm pretty sure he does kiss his Floyd poster every night

Or maybe it's because my sig used to be full of your embarrasing quotes

You still think Margarito hits harder than Trinidad?

Tyson did good numbers against then top 5 Heavyweights.

You are comparing Mayweather vs Berto to Tyson vs Top 10 Heavies? Berto is not a top 10 contender and Mayweather will probably manage to get half a million buys fighting him. That's the difference here. Tyson was actually fighting Great White Hopes and top 10 guys in thos good PPV's he was getting.

mike is a ****ing heavyweight with devastating KO power Floyd welterweight with no KO power just pure boxing skills.mike never had to deal with illegal ppv streams, how much was ppv back then $30? now its like 80 despite all this disadvantage Floyd still had the numbers he does if manny were to fight berto it would do 150k so 550k is pretty good for berto .
