Canelo and cotto don't need Ward.... He isn't a viable future opponent for either guy..

If Ward was gonna be on the undercard of a ppv, it should be on the GGG-lemuiex card, because at least Ward-ggg is a huge fight to make, and this would build for it...

      you're right.

he'd just be a boring co-feature. nothing about ward is exciting, i mean i used to like him but that super 6 was a long time ago .... now that i think of it he's a bigger and blacker mauricio herrera.

Wow that's crazy. No one is paying PPV money to see Ward on this card. How about Ward headlines his own PPV card and see how many people buy that. His last fight was on BET for crying out loud.
Jay-Z must be telling this guy he is a huge draw for him to ask for this.

Once that gets settled, it's simply a matter of how RocNation finances getting Ward onto the PPV; front the cost for Ward, or don't front the cost but get him a piece of the upside.

          Cotto-Alvarez
          Ward-TBA
          Miura-Vargas
          -fourth fight

You pull the payouts to Canelo, Cotto and Ward, and you probably finance the rest of the bill with $1m (completely ignore the MGM site fee to host the fight at Mandalay Bay, as that was already split between Cotto and Alvarez).

Price the PPV $60sd/$70hd; fight clears 800k PPV buys and, after all the various payouts to other parties, you've got $25m to divvy up.

$1.75m off of the $25m in proceeds comes out to about 7% (if the fight proves to be as big as Oscar seems to believe it to be, that number could be down at 5%).

$2m up front or 5% off of the proceeds on the fight isn't that bad of a choice.
The problem is nobody cares to pay to see Andre Bored fight. He isn't going to draw the black fans who weren't going to pay for Cotto-Canelo...he just sees an opportunity and is trying to muscle his way into an easy couple million

You can keep telling yourself that if you want; the SF/BayArea cares to see Andre Ward fight (three headline fights that each did over $700k at the gate help prove that) and HBO's audience cares to see him fight (last two HBO fights each did over 1.2m homes).

Beyond that, there's a lot of boxing and casual boxing audience that doesn't care about the whole Mexico/Puerto Rico rivalry; Andre Ward gives them the chance to reach some of those other audiences.

HOT97/Power106.1/BigBoy/SwayinTheMorning/etc on urban radio, across the ESPN basket of banter shows, and with Rosie Perez on The View (as a clean-cut, wholesome, Olympic gold medalist, with American English and a persona that could be an advertisers dream were he to get more exposure) are all potential audiences that neither Cotto or Alvarez can reach.

Ward is delusional if he thinks him being on the undercard or not is going to have any effect on potential buyers. I would love for a talent like Ward to be on the card, but if he's not honestly who cares.

Him turning down this awesome opportunity over a silly PPV cut demand would be yet another horrible business decision from Andre.

Ward graduated at the top of his class at the winky wright school of business.

Keep ducking kovalev stevenson and pascal.
                    Ward is desperate

Why is he being such a **** recently?
This is beyond a joke, you're either the mainevent and the PPV event or you're not...
Canelo Vs Cotto is a bigger fight than anything Ward or GGG could ever set up!
There Ward fans can you be happy that I atleast confirmed its not just Ward but wow this goes beyond low from Ward I doubt you'd see many other fighters try and demand such a call I can understand If the mainevent was Mayweather Vs Berto THEN I have little problems... damn!
