Ward announced in March he was fighting a tune up fight next. Lemieux beat N'Dam same night Ward fought Smith. That next week it was announced K2 and GB were in negotiations for Golovkin/Lemieux.

Ward fought LHW in Olympics. He has admitted he walks around at 180. he is a LHW who drains himself. If he makes 168 again, fine. But why couldn't he make 164 easily. He made Dawson come down to 168.

Ward is closer to Kovalev's size than GGG is to Ward's size. That is the logical fight to be made. The problem Ward is too scared to be in the ring with someone with a good fighter he doesn't have a strength advantage over.

Do you also insist on Floyd moving up for GGG?

He's not though; compare the walk-around weights for the three, and Golovkin likely walks around 170s, Ward walks around low 180s, and Kovalev walks around near 200lbs.

Ward being 173.5 with three weeks to go to the Paul Smith fight (likely before any real weight cut began) clearly demonstrates that Ward isn't physically a full light heavyweight yet.

Floyd walks around in the 150s; just because he has the skills to compete against fighters who boil down to 154 (and likely has the skils to compete against guys who boil down to 160) doesn't mean he should be campaigning at those weights
