Comments Thread For: Andre Ward on 'Little G' Golovkin: Fans Were Hoodwinked

Super middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) says the fans were hoodwinked by Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) and his team, promoter Tom Loeffler and trainer Abel Sanchez.

A few weeks ago, Loeffler denied that there were ever negotiations for a possible fight between the two sides. Ward claims a formal 50-50 offer was made, and he has proof by way of email, and says the offer was rejected in five minutes and he was told that 'maybe in 2017' the fight can happen.

Golovkin turned down an official offer from Roc Nation to fight Ward.

I find it funny when they send you an offer and you turn it down its okay cause it wasnt the right deal for you, but when you send em one thats the end all lmfao. You guys are spoiled, to much handouts through your entire life from birth makes you this way.

this fight will sell better anyway after GGG gets more exposure in his next fight. i dont think GGG and Ward are such household names that the general public is demanding to see the fight. If he can get past David and then the winner of Cotto-Canelo, then that perfectly sets up a mega fight.

ward is a great boxer, not as great a business man.

In a perfect world Golovkin can fight everyone at the same time. But it's common sense at this point. Andre Ward comparing him going up to 175 and fighting guys around Kovalev but not Kovalev is hardly equivalent and if he did move up to fight a guy like Stevenson, that's a big fight and no one would give him sht, but he'd also be expected to quickly fight Kovalev afterwards. When Golovkin was offering to fight those other guys they brought more money than Absenteeism Ward, and Froch is highly dangerous, so risk wasn't why they turned Ward down. Ward will just have to wait till Golovkin gets his MW fights out of the way because the guy isn't planning on yoyo'ing, esspecially not for shts and giggles.

What makes a fighter like Golovkin special is his conditioning, every fiber of muscle on the guy is highly tuned and putting in effort to give him the strength he needs, putting on weight won't be so simple as coming in with the muscles for 160 and the water weight of 10-15lb's, he'll have to put on strength for 168lb's or atleast 166 if he plans to carry the same authority he does at 160, and he's gonna need it because everyone will be a good bit taller than him.

You're not a real boxing fan cuz if u were u would want Ward to fight GGG first and then fight Kovalev so that u get 2 great fights instead of 1, but because u don't want to see ur favorite fighter against a guy who can beat him and u wanna see that threat get beaten, u only want 1 of the 2 fights to happen.
